Anyone used this before? For where?

Considering staying in a flat for a trip to Paris this summer.

If you've used this before and found any big issues (or really like it) share your thoughts. Looks like a cool service on the outside and im wondering if it's all that.

haven't done it but i've read enough positive reviews of it on travel websites that i think i'd give it a try

i've also met up with complete strangers overseas bc of the net and that worked out well, so this might be fucking awesome.

i rented an apartment in istanbul and it was the bidness. anytime you can have a kitchen on a longer trip and not have to share a bathroom is great

I rarely post but I saw this and thought I'd let you know my experience-

I've rented from airbnb maybe 10 time now, also in France, and I highly recommend it. I stayed in an amazing place in Paris for about a week at a price you couldn't beat, and it was extremely clean and the person I stayed with was super helpful. Additionally, if you have any issues airbnb customer support is incredible. They will find you a new reservation and refund your money etc. if there are any major issues without bombarding you with questions or giving you attitude.

I recommend it to al my friends, and none of them have ever had anything but positive reviews. I've stayed in Paris, Lyon, Rome, London, Barcelona, Madrid, New York, LA, and New Orleans. You should just make sure to read the reviews and ratings for the renters you want. Also- most of the people that rent rooms/apartments go the extra mile. Almost all of them give you extra amenities like food, beer, wine etc. One guy supplied a harddrive of ripped DVDS for me to transfer to my computer.

Anyway, I would give them a try. It is by far better than any hotel I've ever stayed in and almost always comparable in price.

I used AirBnB to find accommodation in Tokyo, and it was fucking rad. I don't want to do hotels again after that. I had only heard of it a few months before, but it worked out so well.

I didn't get to meet the hosts but they definitely went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Hand written/drawn notes on how to use the washing machine/cookers etc.. And they left a couple of drinks in the fridge for us. It was an awesome little apartment too, right in Harajuku.

You get a completely different experience while you're staying there, it feels like your home for that time rather then just a hotel or hostel. Definitely check it out, but yeah. Read the reviews, look at what people have said. It's worthwhile though. Often a lot cheaper then the hotels too.

japan was good for this.

the first two places were mad.

Apartment in Nakameguro was unreal - they even had beers in the fridge for us

Last one I did in coastal South Australia was dope because it was the first rental so the lady gave a 50% discount.

Cost us $100.00 a night  for four bedrooms and  the rest on a beach.

Got an air bnb when I went to Madison for my tattoo but it wasn't a house it was more like an extremely small but personal hotel.. the room was big but there were only like maybe 8 rooms max or so.. right off in the cut and down the street from this awesome breakfast spot I went to called lazy Jane's cafe.. since I booked it like a month or so in advanced it was barely $100 for 3 days.. not bad imo..

Some of the houses seemed nice and out of a fuckin boy meets world episode but a couple of them were just day beds on a big ass patio deck that was closed off.. seemed nice but meh.. the place I went with was way better..

Fr? I cant do it, I don't like borrowing other people's shit. I know, its kinda the same as the stuff in hotels is used by others too. I dunno it's psychological, I'm not into air BnBs

I have a relative who Air BnB'd out his own apartment whenever he hooked up on tinder, I think he got his women slept with number up over 500 and got kicked out of his apartment.

I like it for the locations, I prefer hotels for the terms, ease of cancelation and general predictability. I do not like sketchy air bnb's like where you have to enter through the parking garage and not talk to anyone or it is really somebodies sisters house or something , but it is hard to tell what you are going to get until you are already booked and or already there.

no, that part is out the window. which makes me sad, kinda, as local hosts are the best way to visit somewhere. that was and is a good niche. not as nakedly profitable and higher effort than a number of investment properties that run themselves, of course, so less common.

i go out of my way to stay in someone's home, with someone, when that's an option. i still kinda like to meet people. i hate people who've bought up cities like new orleans and just own six houses that they rent out constantly. fuck that. it sucks to live next to those places and people who rent them just want to make money. couldn't care less about the place they're making money in.

but they're about to run into the cost advantage hotels have in a lot of areas. once those cleaning fees hit a hotel gets much more attractive. i had to take out my own trash and clean the kitchen at the last airbnb i was at, and was still out $150/night.

i do think airbnb fundamentally has a good brand and a good service and that the small out of state landlords/money printing operations are gonna be forced to be become better neighbors in order to continue to exist. this is good and desirable, and airbnb should take the lead on helping their renters be better landlords or risk increasingly aggressive regulation.
