If not, matte is the way to go. For paint, I like matte for most things. Gloss enamels are nice for adding a pop against matte finishes. Ive paid $40 for 20 sheets Hahnemühle bamboo matte paper. ive even coated my own paper before with digital grounds so that I can print off the ink jet printer.
