Uber App.... take a town car for the cost of a taxi

Recommended Posts

a buddy turned me onto this app called Uber. just sharing

the way it works - private drivers use their car, SUV, or van as a cab in between jobs

same cost as a cab(here)

mostly lincoln town cars and escalades but we had a large group for a bday a few weeks ago and got picked up in a party bus

http://www.uber.com

downside - you have to put a debit or credit card # on file and they charge you thru that. could be an upside though since you may not always have cash

shits good. i havent taken a cab to or home from the bar since i signed up. ive been stuck waiting almost an hour after calling for a cab multiple times. cant just walk out to the street and hail one here like some other cities. everytime ive used this the car has been here in maybe 10 mins

shit would be a good look if youre single and trying to make an impression.

How do you sign up as a driver? Can anyone drive anyone or do you have to be hired or something?

Does the car have to be black? Can a grey Lexus be cool.

FUUUU

Anything beats dealing with taxi companies, they are totally incompetent as far as I can tell. Nothing like calling after your ride to the airport does not show up to have them tell you it will be hours. I have had them no show also. For the past few years I have been using the same towncar operator and have had no problems.

No app though just took dudes card and call him direct.

Pretty killer idea. I've been using charter companies for airport/restaurant transfers for a while now. Nobody wants to rock up to a swanky joint in a taxi. Last car was an E500 Merc. Pretty much closes any deal, any deal.

Boats. I think you've still got NYC on the brain. Give in to your instincts. Just move here already, Taxis are plentiful. The only app you'll need is for Rub & Tug locations.

if i could transfer somewhere there i would

closest place would be in maryland according to my boss

fuck that

those spots are on Yelp?

there are a few here but they are few and hard to distinguish from normal massage places

word of mouth mostly

This shit been spreading? Anyone start using it?

They now have uber-x which is cheaper and you get picked up in a Prius instead of a town at or suv

Got home for $6 the other night. Safe ride home for the cost of one beer during a night out.

Use it every time I go to the cities over east, used it just recently. Have not had a bad experience yet. Worst thing I could probably say is that if friends call a cab at the same time, the cab more often than not arrives first.

BUT WHEN IT DOESN'T! HEEYYOOOO!

look out for surge pricing on NYE and other times - you can get cab fares well over the $100-$200 range fast

Try checking out LIFT app… Same idea, different company. You might have better luck.

Not a fan of cabs really. Abcs is bus people. Sorry to say but its the truth.

BUS PEOPLE. I was out west a few months ago and the bus app was outstanding.

I would have been in bad shape without it. Gave you walking directions to the

nearest public transpo. Told you when it was about to show up. Set up your

route. I was in love.
