Drue_Down
I did a two month trip to Europe on my own in my mid-twenties. Granted, I had friends in almost every city I visited, but I usually spent the day alone. I preferred it that way: riding every line in town to scope out graff, intentionally getting lost in working class neighborhoods, drinking and smoking in random parks, really seeing the back alleys of life... It also made it a lot easier to meet new people, plus I didn't have to ditch friends when I'd find a broad. I doubt I'd do that now-a-days if I had the chance (wife + 2 kids) - But I still do that when I travel stateside for business, whenever possible I work in an extra day to wander the city and do a solo pub crawl. If you're out-going, or just annoyed with people in general, it's a good way to travel. I'm a bit a both, so I usually buy a few bombers, put on the earphones, and walk 20 miles around town.
