theprotester
This day commemorated the end of the hostilities for the Great War (World War I), the signing of the armistice, which occurred on 11 November 1918 - the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Armistice Day was observed by the Allies as a way of remembering those who died, especially soldiers with 'no known grave'. RIP to the Unknown Soldiers. A minute silence at 11am is a sign of respect. eviltrailer77
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Oh, and by the way, it's called Veterans Day.
Fist 666
Veterans Day. Free food from restaurants I don't eat at, but hopefully some free drinks. We shall see.
Walid Jumblat
It's called Remembrance day in Australia. Our version of Veteran's Day is called Anzac Day, in April.
