Any real move from a two party system would necessitate a completely different election structure, much more like that of france. Which has very wide impacts on representation in general.

Not to mention it would require a move to a parliamentary government. Do you know what a coalition government is? Do you support the re-writing of the basics of our governance every time there's an election cycle?

Also, we are often horrible enough as it is making choices between two parties and understanding the very real differences and policy implications that each platform represents, do you think adding more options to that system will do anything effective?

I see your point. I have noticed a lot of people who affiliate with the two major parties don't know much about their own parties platform to began with other then whatever they see on fox or msnbc.. What specifically do you mean by the re-writing of governance?

A third party is needed. More options would make an enormous effect. I really don't like the powerful monopoly the two parties have over the system and media. What happened to Ron Paul was a damn damn shame.

If you have a legit third party, you are basically requiring a run off between the two highest winning candidates, which ultimately leads to a dilution of efficacy in voting concentration. More and more parties will develop, and the development of a parliamentary system would become necessary.

Once that happens, each subsequent election would require a new coalition of parties come together to make any sort of legislative process possible, hence, a coalition government. In such cases, each election cycle would necessitate a basic re-writing of governance for the subsequent ruling cycle.

How many parties do you think are developed already? the third largest party is the Libertarian party which was started in the 70's .. they are on the ballot in 47 states, it was 50 till they were challenged and removed. The only time a libertarian candidate was allowed to debate was in 92 ever sense then the rules were rewritten in a way that it wouldn't ever happen again- the cpd was organized by the dems & rep to exclude any third party candidates.

It shouldn't really be about rules and the re-writing about this or that. I say it is about having viable choices & a fair shot. The public is fucked over by being told that they only have two choices. Its always a dem vs a rep. When ever someone else comes along with a new idea or better idea they are drowned out and told that they have no chance at winning
