you should have a letter / offer of employment from the company contracting you.... if not, get one. outlining job description, payment, hours, codes of conduct and OH&S (if youre working on site) plus whatever else.

you should be able to work out how much tax you'll need to set aside just by looking at your earnings, no?

make sure thats all in order and get a good accountant. they change lives.. I *still* see my money guy to do tax and im a student! he explains all the stuff I have no idea about. which is finances. when I have a business, i'll employ him full time. totally invaluable.

ok so I filed self employed in 2011

attached to your income statements is a Schedule K, to itemize all these "business deductions" that everyone is yammering on about. when you attach one of these as a business owner, you're 33% more likely to be audited by the IRS. according to TurboTax Deluxe 2011.

didn't phase me cuz I'm broke. but the IRS don't fuck around, so buy EVERYTHING on a debit/credit card, to record the transaction. then at the end of the year, your simple bank statement shows the expenses. maybe create a business only accountd, I did that.

in your case, seeing your income level, I'd say it's a bad move to go solo johnson ron swanson (Be Your Own Boss). unless thats THE option, I'd milk em for more sweetness on this deal. perdiem should be expected as should the rest of your current benefits, minus the retirement... and health care (which will be impossible for you to find if they drop your health insurance - think about THAT $1200 a month insurance bill waiting for you, if you even qualify with your dangerous ass job)

Why the fuck would you leave your current situation? Money? You greedy fuck you're living the good life.
