refurbished a lamp ive had for a while. its been needing some attention for a bit. its the first time ive done this and it was much easier than i expected. aside from waiting for the paint to dry, this was a very quick job.

rewired with new plug, cord, socket, paint.

NEW WIRING-

you can modify and old extension cord for this part. Or use speaker wire i suppose.

1mEBy.jpg

rDUud.jpg

feed the new wire (unstripped) thru both pieces of the plug

lRE2D.jpg

pinch the prongs together. they will pierce the insulation on the wiring.

lZ4Uy.jpg

pull thru

dNvDD.jpg

FEED THE NEW WIRE THRU THE LAMP BEFORE THIS NEXT PART

rDUud.jpg

split about 3"

tSqed.jpg

strip the insulation off about 3/4"

pGw7U.jpg

twist

TRQVU.jpg

wrap your bare wire around the 2 screws on the socket in a CLOCKWISE motion.

this way, as you tighten the screws the wire will wrap tighter around them.

if you were to wrap them counter clockwise they would loosen themselves as you tighten the screws...

(i ended up using black wire instead of brown and painting the new socket silver to match the rest)

Re: D• I • Y [do it yourself thread]

I make/hack all kinds of stuff. If I ever get organized I'll post some pics.

There's a great hacker space in SF called Noisebridge that I go to once in a while. So far I haven't done much besides use the sewing lab and watch my friends build robots...the one downside is that it's an open floor plan, which can be somewhat distracting at times.

Well done, B N H

I was looking for this thread a while ago. I thought it had a few more pages but might have been corrupted during Melt12Melt

I recently fixed our blender. Summer is arriving so we need fruit shakes and other nutritious blends to ingest

Re: D • I • Y [do it yourself thread]

KO this is a fairly new thread no other contributors.

until now:

Fixed our Kitchen Aid blender today.

The coupler teeth broke and wasn't operating to optimum efficiency.

I'm on the internets so no problem

After finding the model number on the bottom I went on the internets to find replacement coupler if existent.

This part was broke

KACR_3toolsneeded_zps55ce0c96.jpg

These are the only tool needed

KACR_4chisel-rightyloosy_zpsec634514.jpg

the thread on the spindle stud are righty loosy, lefty tighty. Opposite of what you might be used to unless you're a welder.

Start chiseling 'righty loosy'

all the plastic shatters off

KACR_5shattersplastic_zpsbe9e1bd6.jpg

KACR_6continueatarmature_zps52a21cbd.jpg

continue chiseling at the aluminum armature disc until it unscrews off

KACR_7newpart_zps16364a6a.jpg

the new part arrives in the mail just in time

KACR_8newpartleftytighty_zpsae23da4c.jpg

follow instructions included to screw on by hand lefty tighty

btw, that is the cleanest "used" blender I have ever seen.

This is the only D I Y thread I could find and I didn't want to start another new one with a single image so BUMP it is...

Male-stem caps, make good insulators for your leads so they don't touch each other or other things they shouldn't be touching. The interior diameter fits over the lead tip perfectly so the friction will not allow them to fall off with gravity alone.

At the daily jobby job I'll test OEM Accessories compatibility with new model year vehicle units. IE, make sure last year parts can still be installed into the new model year vehicles.

For after jobby job time, I've recently purchased a Minty Synth. I'll be gettin down with this soon and fckin sht up
