this shit right here... man that is the life imo...

there are a grip of super nice cabins in the Tahoe area but none as "modern" as these. and the cost of building one in Montana or places like that compared to say Tahoe could save millions im sure...

either way good to see a few of these in the states.

Yeah, a view like that would be fucking awesome for maybe a month? maybe even a year.

But year after year, I dont know about that.

Seems like a good time-share idea though.

Not to mention the fucking pain in the ass it would be if you were to run out of toilet paper.

The closest store is probably what? an hour away?

But, I doubt people use those places as permanent residences.

Van, as far as I know some of the ones on mountains come from kits that are designed to be transported and constructed by just a few people.

I know the white people comment was a joke, but I'd take one of these over some shitty inner city shoebox (or most normal houses/apartments) any day. Who wouldn't?

The one with the crazy view isn't a residential home, but it is inhabited year round. It's to keep an eye out for forest fires or something.

im not saying i would want one that was like a jungle gym to get around room to room but most are not like that.

also depending on your budget or desire you can be in the middle of the mountains or woods with no neighbors but only be 20mins from civilization, stores and restaurants. most of the ones i was talking about in Tahoe can be right in the mix or totally off the grid but still within proximity if you need be...

if you live in the middle of the woods or on the side of a mountain, i don't think a ladder is gonna get you down.

and if it does, you're probably going to die soon because you're living in the middle of the woods or on the side a mountain.

Sans mountain, I do. My single storey spread does me fine. Grim reaper probably won't find my address.

  • 2 weeks later...

supplies are brought in via heli.

my dad had a job years ago working for an outdoor ed center where they built a log cabin (like 15x15) on regular ground, let it set/settle for a couple years, then had a heli pick it up and fly it to a point that you could only get to by hiking. it was a very cool process to watch.

i would assume that outpost is for avalanche watch of some sort.
