On today’s date at the indicated time, while posted in the Lobby I observed a Black Male Adult exiting the Lobby through the double doors on Cyril Magnin Street. After he exited I heard some one shout “Get off my square”. An unknown guest was entering the same door as this comment was heard. After the comment was made by the bma, the guest stood half way out the door and said to the bma “I said Fuck you”. The bma stood in a stance as if he was going to assault the guest. At this point, I radioed for back up and headed out to the White Zone. As I headed out to the white zone the bma backed off and the guest went back in. Bell Captain A came out to assist. As he opened the door, he hit the son of guest EJ in the face. The child started to cry as he held his face. The father picked up his son while the Mother followed the two inside. I focused on the bma until he was removed from the property. Officer H and D came out to assist me in removing him. The bma walked down the street were he was removed once again. After removing him I went back to speak with EJ and apologize for her sons injury. I met her in the Elevator Corridor. When I approached her, she was very upset. She said that it is not my fault, referring to Officer H and that the big guy (referring to A) did not say anything at all regarding the accident. Director of Security M came with us to her room to check on her son. When we arrived the room, we could see the child lying on his back with a tissue on his nose. I approached him and asked if I could see the injury. He removed the tissue and I could see redness and a small amount of blood. There were a few pieces of tissue next to him. They were already bloody.

I SECURITY OFFICER C RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE FRONT DESK AGENT R AT ABOUT 6:30 PM. R STATED THAT J A CONCIERGES AGENT STORED THIS GUEST’S LAPTOP BEHIND THE FRONT DESK IN THE HALLWAY .

M AND C WALKED OUT TO SPEAK TO THE GUEST, THE GUESTS THEN STATED THAT THE BELLMEN R STATED THAT THERE WAS NO MORE LAPTOP LOCKERS AVAILABLE .

ONE OF THE GUEST THEN STOOD IN LINE AT THE CONCIERGES DESK AND THE OTHER GUEST SAT DOWN ON THE CHAIR IN THE LOBBY WAITING FOR HIS FRIEND TO REACH THE FRONT OF THE LINE. THE GUEST THEN SPOKE WITH J AND ADVISED HER THAT BELLMEN R WILL NOT ACCEPT THEIR LAPTOP BAG BECAUSE THERE WERE NO MORE LOCKERS AVAILABLE. J ADVISED THE GUEST THAT SHE WOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR THEM. J THEN STORED THE LAPTOP BEHIND THE FRONT DESK IN THE BACK HALLWAY.

THE GUEST THEN RETURNED TO THE HOTEL TO PICK UP THERE BAGS AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30 PM. AT THIS TIME THE GUEST APPROACHED THE FRONT DESK AND SPOKE WITH R, AND ASKED HIM TO RETRIEVE THE LAPTOP THAT J STORED BEHIND THE FRONT DESK IN THE HALLWAY. R THEN LOOKED IN THE HALLWAY FOR THE LAPTOP BAG. R FOUND THE BAG OPEN AND WITH THE BLACK LAPTOP STRAP HANGING OUT OF IT, THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A LAPTOP IN THE BAG. THE LAPTOP BAG CONTAINED VARIOUS HIGH END LAPTOP ACCESSORIES. M THEN PHONED R AND J TO CONFIRM THE GUEST STATEMENT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH BOTH EMPLOYEES, ALL GUEST ACCOUNTS STATED TO BE TRUE AND CORRECT. S.F.P.D WAS CALLED AND RESPONDED AT 750 PM TO PROVIDE THE GUEST AND THE HOTEL WITH A CASE # NUMBER FOR THIS INCIDENT.

AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE HOTEL ABOUT THIS INCIDENT, I THEN PHONED THE GUEST WHO WERE AT THE AIRPORT AT THIS TIME RETURNING TO THE EAST COAST. I ADVISED THEM THAT THERE WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM WITH HANDLING THEIR CLAIM. THE GUEST THEN ADVISED ME THAT THE COMPUTER COMPANY “DELL” ISSUED HIS COMPUTER TO HIM. INSIDE HIS LAPTOP WERE HIGH END UPGRADES, SUCH AS MORE RAM SPEED IN CONJUNCTION WITH SEVERAL OTHER SPECIAL PROGRAMS. I ASSURED HIM THAT THIS ITEM WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT WITH THE CLAIM. THE GUEST WAS THEN ADVISED TO SEND M ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTATION ON HIS LAPTOP COMPUTER, INCLUDING THE LIST DETAILING THE UPGRADES.

HE WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE HOTELS I.T. DEPARTMENT WOULD VIEW HIS INFORMATION FOR ACCOUNTING PURPOSES. CASE # ON FILE WITH THE HARD COPY OF THIS REPORT.

At approximately 2230 hours, while conducting the lock down of the 4th Floor Atrium area, I was dispatched to the 2nd Floor Lounge area in reference to the San Francisco Police Department being on property and in pursuit of a unidentified suspect in that area.

Suspect was later identified as Mr. C

Mr. C was obviously intoxicated, uncooperative and using profanity as he was taken into custody by the San Francisco Police Department.

Mr. C has been involved in other incidents at the Hotel and his guest status is still being reviewed and investigated by Hotel Management as well as the Security Department at the time of this report.

Earlier in the week at approximately 2330 hours, Mr. C approached Mr. Reggie Jackson (N.Y. Yankees Hall of Fame) in the lobby area and was basically attempting to speak to Mr. Jackson while intoxicated. Security Supervisor C and Security Officer G were at the scene standing by to control any unforeseen escalating circumstance which might have occurred. No incident occurred at that time. Mr. Jackson stated to Mr. C that he was intoxicated and would not converse with him.

Mr. Cwas advised by the Security Team not to approach any of the MLB Players on property. Mr. C then departed the hotel with an unidentified Caucasian Male without further incident.

At approximately 2200 hours, Security Officer R had briefed the Graveyard Security Team on a situation. Room #____ apparently had been inspected by the Housekeeping Staff and a personal bag was left in the room with various identification cards, Credit Cards, Syringe, Scale and white powdery substance. Also in the bag was evidence that the suspect had recently been at the Nikko, Hilton, Stanford Court and J.W. Marriott hotels. The Graveyard Shift was requested to pass on information as well as the confiscated bag to Dayshift for further disposition, etc.

Upon arrival behind the front desk, MOD Z informed me that the guest standing at the front desk was the Suspect. I immediately called the San Francisco Police Department and requested a unit to be dispatched to the hotel. In the interim, the suspect departed the hotel and was just missed by the police unit. The suspect was apparently attempting to pay cash at the front desk for a room and began to get suspicious and left the hotel quickly.

At approximately 2230 hours, SFPD Unit arrived at the scene and were briefed on this incident in its entirety. The Officers then searched for the suspect to no avail. They opted to confiscate the bag with Fraud paraphernalia and the security department was given a receipt for the contents.

SFPD officers viewed the Security Digital Cameras of the aforementioned suspect and requested that a CD be prepared for the ensuing SFPD investigation.

At approximately 2330 hours, Suspect called MOD Z and stated that he wanted to pick up his possessions and he was requested to return to the hotel so that this could be accomplished. I immediately called the SFPD and apprised them (investigating officers) of the situation and the fact that the suspect could return to the hotel. Suspect has not returned at the time of this report. All Security units were notified.

On Wednesday, at approximately 2301 hours,I, was eating in the Employee’s Cafeteria when I was advised by other employees not to eat the food on the plates due to the fact that it may be spoiled. I immediately smelled the plate, which consisted of beef. The food smelled spoiled. H, O and I then checked all the beef in the refrigerator. All the beef had an extremely rancid odor to it.

On Thursday, at approximately 23:15 hours, a guest reported seeing someone placing graffiti on the doors. I responded and observed graffiti on the Stairwell Doors. I did not see anyone in the area who may have placed the graffiti on the building. The graffiti read Y – E – S – N – O in black ink. Housekeeping was advised and will attempt to remove the Graffiti from the doors.

On Saturday, at approximately 03:40 hours, T observed a man, later identified as B (Guest room 1170), on the video surveillance camera wrestling with another unidentified man. T went to the Lobby and met with B. B was intoxicated. B told T that the unidentified man had taken his passport. I proceeded to the Lobby and met with B. B said that he was walking back to the hotel and the suspect approached him and asked for money. B said that he told the suspect that he did not have any money and the suspect then began to grab at his pockets. B said that he pushed the suspect away several times and then proceeded to the hotel. B said that he realized the passport was missing when he arrived at the hotel lobby. SFPD was called at that time. B, T and I went to the look for the suspect and the lost passport with negative results.

It should be noted that B came to the lobby approximately 20 minutes later and spoke with T. B told T that he had made a mistake and was starting to remember what had actually happened. B said that his memory was coming back to him. B said that he remembered leaving Ruby Sky and walking around with an unidentified black male who he had met on the street. B said that the man was trying to help him find the hotel. B said that he then entered a vehicle with some prostitutes and another male driver. They drove him to the Washington Mutual and helped him make a withdrawal from his account. B said he got back into the car and drove to another location and they let him out of the car. B was able to find his way back to the hotel were he was accosted by the original suspect. B did not wish to provide this information to SFPD.

On today’s date at the indicated time I observed a Black male adult urinating on a tree on about fifteen to twenty feet away from me. As I attempted to approach him, he was finishing up. At this point, I did not say anything to him. He stood there and asked a guest for something. I did not hear what he asked for. The person he was talking to did not respond to him. He became aggressive to her using profanity. At this point I and Officer M walked towards him. He walked away by himself with out noticing us. He stopped another guest before leaving asking for something as well. The person ignored him and continued walking up. The BMA turned in the direction of the person walking up the street seeing me and M walking toward him. He stuck his tongue out at me, turned around and continued down. There he started asking a cab driver for money. I came up behind him and said, “Is everything OK” He turned around and started yelling and using profanity towards me. As I stepped back, he came closer in a threatening manner. At this point, I felt he was becoming aggressive. I told him to step back. Instead, he got closer. At this point, I felt concerned for my safety. I then detained him on the ground for his safety and mine. As he was on the ground, he started to resist. I then tried to place my body in a position to prevent him from getting up. His head was under my right arm. I pulled my knee inward causing it to hit him in the nose. His injury caused some blood loss.

At approximately 7AM, I answered a call from Mr. E. Mr. E was asking me about British Airways’ flight schedule for the next day. Then he repeatedly asked me the same questions. By then it was obvious to me that Mr. E was highly intoxicated and therefore, extremely incoherent and very difficult to understand what he was trying to say. Graveyard Manager R was present during the phone call. He informed me that Mr. E had been calling the Front Desk for at least twelve times throughout the evening-into the early morning hours.

R phoned British Airways’ Caption, the Caption then advised R to contact Mr. W – Mr. Evans Supervisor. R immediately called Mr. W. (During this short time mentioned above, Mr. E had called the Front Desk 3 times.)

At approximately 9AM, Mr. W contacted me on their way to the Emergency room in a hospital, and was thankful that we notified him regarding this incidence in such a timely matter; since he found a cut in the back of Mr. E’ head and that he was bleeding. Mr. W also apologized to me for any inconvenience they might cause us.

He told me that he would follow up with me upon their return from the hospital. I continued by informing Mr. W that he would need to complete an incident report for our Security Department prior to their departure.

In the early PM hours, Mr. W came downstairs to see me. Again, he apologized repeatedly regarding the issue and tried to convince me that he rather not fill out the incident report since he does not want to make this into a huge issue. I reassured Mr. W that this is simply for our records, plus this is our company’s policy. I then paged security to meet us at the Front Desk. Mr. W refused to complete the report and returned to his room.

At approximately 02:45 hours, I was entering stairwell 4 on the 13th floor and heard water running. I then smelled urine. I immediately began to run up the stairs. Upon arriving on Floor 15, I observed a man, later identified as M, exiting the stairwell. I approached M in the hall and asked him if he had been urinating in the stairwell and he said no. I asked M to come with me and we proceeded to the stairwell. I pointed to the urine and again asked if he had been urinating in the stairwell and he said no. I asked him if he had been in the stairwell and he said no. I then told him that I had seen him exiting the stairwell. It should be noted that M was upset at my questioning and continually denied urinating or being in the stairwell. I escorted M to the Lobby.

M had a room key, but could not remember the room number. S, Security Officer, met with us in the Lobby. I explained to M that we needed to locate his room. M provided ID and it was found that there were three (3) rooms registered in his name. I then had the Front Desk check the room number on M key. The key was for room ____, which is registered to A. M told me that he was staying with A. M, S and I went to 1418 and made contact with Au. Mr. A verified M was staying in the room. S and I left M in the room at that time.

It should be noted that M was verbally abusive throughout the entire process of locating and verifying his room and continually used profanity toward S and myself. It should also be noted that S asked M why he had been in the stairwell and he said that he was using the stairwell as he was searching for his room. I reminded M that he had told me that he had not been in the stairwell at all.

At approximately 02:35 hours, while on Security Dispatcher duty, I observed a Asian Male Adult walking around in the Hotel (B-1) parking area. The man was possibly Filipino and is described as follows: A Filipino, Male Adult with Dark Complexion, Approx. 30 Years of age, 5’4”, 165 Lbs., wearing a white T-shirt, Blue Jeans and Black & White Tennis shoes.

Suspect was observed looking into parked and unoccupied vehicles. Suspect was observed looking into a Pontiac Bonneville.

A thorough search was conducted of the surrounding areas for contraband and/or damage and this met with negative results. All keys for Guest vehicles were inventoried by Valet and were accounted for.

Suspect was taken into custody and he became agitated during the investigation process. Suspect was asked to remain calm and was escorted to the Carriage Way for further investigation. Suspect was informed that he was “Trespassing.” Suspect displayed characteristics of a “Drug User” with “Mental problems” and could not give a proper and decent account of himself and stated he had no Identification on his person. It could not be determined at the time of this report just how suspect entered the parking lot as he was totally incoherent. Suspect stared blankly and his body was extremely tense and his mood changed as he spoke from quiet to violent. He stated that he was going to kill someone and that he belonged to a gang out of Long Beach. Suspect stated only that his name was “Edwin”.

At approximately 01:35 hours, I, Chris DeWeerd, Security Supervisor, was conducting a perimeter check. I pulled the door to stairwell and it opened. I immediately observed a man, later identified as R, sitting on the steps inside the stairwell. I ascended the steps and observed two syringes (one full), a spoon with white powder on it and a lighter. I contacted D, Security Officer and asked him to come to the location. I asked R to stand up and move away from the syringe. Due to the presence of syringes and concern for my own well-being, I then placed handcuffs on R.

SFPD was called and arrived at approximately 01:45 hours. R was questioned and it was decided to cite and release him. The Syringes and spoon were taken by SFPD. I conducted a search of Richard’s belongings and no hotel property was found.

On the above date and time, I was in dispatch when I received a call about a guest missing items. L stated she left behind two items in room ____. L checked out approximately 22:00. I asked L to describe the items. I also asked her if she was a crew member and what her phone number is so if the items came up, I could log them in the system and if the items turned up we could contact her. L stated she was a Cathay Pacific Crew member. I was being very thorough to assist L. Law described the first item as a Sephora Membership Card, and the second item as a HSBC Black Oval Security Device. I asked L to describe the security device in more detail so it would help me to better assist her. L began to yell at me saying, “You don’t know what a security device is?!?” I replied, “No sorry, please hold so I can check our lost and found log for your items. Have you also checked with housekeeping?” L said, “Well just transfer me to housekeeping then.” I tried to explain to her that the hotel has two different departments that handle lost and found, the security department and housekeeping. L began to yell again, “I want to check the lost and found department; they told me there was only one lost and found department! If you are not it, transfer me and stop wasting my time!” I stated once more that I also handled lost and found. She then began to curse at me on the phone. “Stop being a fucking smart ass.” I said, “Please don’t curse at me, I am helping you the best I can.” L replied, “You are being a smart ass and I am not cussing at you!” I said, “Ma’am, I cannot help you if you continue to curse at me.” L replied again, “Well you are being a damn smart ass.” I replied, “I’m sorry, I cannot help you any more, you can call back anytime when you calm down.” I then hung up the phone. Outlets Manager, was present during the phone conversation and wrote a statement.

At approximately 16:30 hrs. I, S/O M received a call from Front Desk Manager J that there was an irate guest at the front desk who was being verbally abusive towards the staff and herself. I along with P responded immediately and approach the man to find out what the issue was. The man attempted to ignore both myself and Mr. P and continue his verbal assault on J It was determined that the man, K, is the leader of a Japanese tour group.

Apparently Mr. K went to the front desk to check in, he spoke with S. S went to the back to get Mr. K room package and was informed that 2 of the smoking rooms were not ready. She then called house keeping to find out the status and was told that she would check on the ETA. and call S back. When S tried to inform Mr. K of this he became very upset and began demanding that he be given his rooms right away. S attempted to inform K that she was waiting for the information but all his other rooms were ready, and that if he liked she would try an assign different rooms. He refused and became even more verbally abusive, K then demanded to speak to a manager. J responded and Mr. K first words to her were “ your stupid call housekeeping and rush my rooms”. When J attempted to tell Mr. K that housekeeping was working on his rooms right now, he told her to “shut up stupid get my rooms ready”. Mr. K then became more aggressive pointing in J’s face and yelling. It was at this point that she called security.

From this point it took several attempts to calm K down and explain to him if he continued to act this way he would not be allowed to stay in the hotel. Furthermore after checking K reservation it was determined that his check-in time was between 3:00 pm. – 5:00 pm. All of Mr. K were ready by 4:45 pm. Also after speaking with S she informed us that this is not the first time Mr. K has acted in this fashion. On several other occasions Mr. K has been overly demanding and abusive. Mr. K has been warned that if there are anymore incidents involving disruptive or abusive behavior by him he will be evicted and or arrested.

On today’s date at the indicated time, I was dispatched to the carriageway in regards to an undesirable person harassing the guests. Upon my arrival, I noticed a black male adult leaving the carriageway. As he walked pass me I said, “How are you”. He said, “Not good, get the fuck away from me”. He then walked about five feet from me to two guests that were waiting for their ride to the airport. Before he made contact with them I stepped in between him and the guests. I told him he had to leave. He than said that he had a gun. I told him once again to leave and I would call the police. He than said that he was going to shoot someone if no one would give him a dollar. He then said that if I did not get away from him he would hurt me. He then said that he was going to count to five and that if I didn’t leave after five seconds “it was on” He started counting. When he got to 3 seconds I decided to detain him for both of our safety. As I tried to detain him he tripped over a passer by’s luggage causing him to land in the street. When he landed in the street he hit his head on the concrete causing a laceration about three inches long. He immediately began to bleed. I assisted in cleaning his wound. I applied a handful of napkins to the wound also keeping the blood from out of his eyes. I was wearing gloves the whole time. I than called dispatch to notify the paramedics for his laceration. After holding the napkins to his wound for five minutes he began to get angry and decided to get up. I advised him to stay there and to wait for help. He got up and walked down with me following him. As I followed him I was still applying pressure to the wound with the napkins.

About three minutes later S.F.P.D arrived and asked what happened. I explained what happened. They asked were he went. I started telling them when I noticed he was across the street using profanity towards us. The two officers went across the street and placed him in hand cuffs. The San Francisco Police took over the situation at this point. Nothing further to report.

(I should note the same guy who wrote this also wrote the report of the guy who ends up getting a knee to the face "accidentally" toward the end.)

At approximately 4:05 am I noticed a 917 on the second floor exiting the doors. He did not look like a guest so I immediately notified unit #2 and had him go to intercept the 917. I then went to meet unit #2 at the same location. When we approached the suspect unit #2 asked him what he was doing at the hotel and he replied he was looking for a job application. After that response we then asked the suspect to open his jacket, which appeared to have something wrapped inside of it. When he opened it he presented us with shrink-wrapped whole turkey, which he said he had gotten at Safeway, but upon inspection of the label and brand name we believed it to have come from our hotel. After that we demanded that he open up his jacket completely and we also found a platter full of assorted meats and cheeses, with that the suspect finally admitted the he had gained access to the hotel by walking in with a crowd of intoxicated guests so that he wouldn’t be noticed. Once in he separated from them and made his way to the second floor where he proceeded to the Veranda, got access to a refrigerator and stole the food. Unit #2 phoned SFPD and he and I escorted the suspect to our security office at 142 Mason.

(The SFPD radio code for a suspicious person is 917)

Mr. Jackson stated to Mr. C that he was intoxicated and would not converse with him.

Mr. Cwas advised by the Security Team not to approach any of the MLB Players on property.

mr. october wouldn't talk to a drunk guy? he must have been plastered. imagine a bunch of security guards telling you not to talk to baseball players because you were drunk. sounds unamerican.

you should blog it

and when i say expound on it, one of the great things about writing, is that you can just make shit up too. i mean the non-fiction aspect is great, and i'm not suggesting you ditch it altogether, but sometimes it's fun to imagine things about people, and in these scenarios, i'm sure you could come up with some hilarious stuff.

anyway, nice.
