Montana authorities are warning the public to beware of bottles being left behind from a new way of cooking meth.

Last weekend, as many as five bottles from the "one-pot cook" method were found and reported to the Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's Office by the U.S. Forest Service.

The plastic water or soda bottles were found with chemicals such as hydrochloric acid and salt and are said to be very volatile and smell of ammonia.

Sheriff Leo Dutton says this is a common way of cooking meth in the south, and it appears it has made it's way to Montana.

Dutton explained, "It's salts, muriatic acid, several acids that are put in there to come up with the methamphetamine that the individual is looking for. Often times you'll get an ammonia smell. You'll see a water bottle that has a tube coming out the top."

Sheriff Dutton says if you find these types of bottles to report them to authorities, and advises that people do not attempt to pick them up or move them.

He says that not only are the bottles volatile, but the contents also can contain carcinogens.
