Gawker effectively conflated the two with people (might as well say "everyone") who had heard of neither one...which would be sort of like saying "Have you heard about this money thing people use at weed clubs? Crazy, man." Bitcoins are an interesting idea but are still very much at the nerdy phase. SR seems like such a bad idea on so many levels but apparently it works...or it did work, who knows. Then you have to use bitcoin, which is anonymous... Then you buy drugs from someone who has a good rating, just like you wouldn't buy nikes from a dude with no rep on ebay... It's worked before. Granted it might definitely be different now, but as far as i heard this site isn't hosted in the US. And there is no way you can block US IPs from reaching it because you're all TOR'd out.
