gasfacevictm
Man, if you are over 25 and have any appreciation for music, the list is going to be huge. Here are my most memorable ones: Lamb of God in the University of Delaware student center before they got famous. Singer guy's grody patch of back hair grossing everybody out. Saw them again a couple weeks later at a bar a few blocks away. So loud and awesome. No marine dickheads. Jeru The Damaja @ the TLA in Philly around '97? Dude came out in a rasta colored cape and performed for like 2 hours and hung at the bar before he went on and was bullshitting with fans. Nice guy. GWAR. If you EVER get a chance to see them, do it. You will not be sorry even if you don't enjoy their music. Bad Luck 13 Riot Extravaganza. I'm just friends with a bunch of these guys. If you live near Philly you should know who they are and why their shows were so ridiculously insane. Cops after one song almost every show. Del & Hiero in like '98? Small show in some dump in South Philly. Jedi Mind Tricks opened for them. Smoked weed with Del afterwards. Dude is a weird person, but cool nonetheless. Gangstarr. Lonnnnnng show. Beatnuts opened for them and they were fucking tanked on stage. Freddy Foxx threatened the sound man with a mace. Fun show. Primus. Not really a fan but they put on a great show. And the best show I've ever been to had nothing to do with music. It was Dave Chappelle doing stand up. He was on stage for over 2 hours. Right after his show blew up and before he fled to Africa. He killed it was all material I have never heard before or since. That counts as hip-hop.
Friend of The Devil
Speaking of Primus, some of Les Claypool's side projects are great live. I was at the first Oysterhead show in NOLA in 2000 i think it was. Killer show. Then I saw em again at Bonnaroo in 2006 or 2007 and was VIP and Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits was standing right next to me. Good time. Also Flying Frog Brigade, another Les band was sick at Gathering of The Vibes 02 back when they had it in Mariaville instead of Bridgeport, CT. I haven't seen em live since probably the late 90's and the vibe seemed a lot different. it was a lot slower and "jammy" if you will. seems like it was more of a rowdy almost punk rock show when I saw em the first couple times. And speaking of "jammy" shit The Disco Biscuits are fucking dope. I'm not really into "jam bands" (especially since I quit doing drugs) but TDB are always fun. heres Primus at Hang Out. Mr. Incognito
-Municpal Waste when Waste Em All first came out in room of about 100 kids and the entire place erupted into a circle pit which you could not avoid being in, or being trampled, you had 2 options. someone cracked me in the back of the head with a phone they ripped off the wall haha this reminds me of when i saw them around the same time, they played this small community park lodge in my hometown and called for a circle pit around the outside of the lodge. shit was GOOFY, must have looked outrageous to whoever may have been watching from somewhere else in the park

!@#$%
GWAR puts on a fun show. qsysue i do love the bad brains. but i dunno if i hold them in quite as high esteem. i think they ruined it with their later releases. even though i am not a fan, i'd say radiohead is more creative, just because they fucking blew my mind with that '2 CDs released ten years apart make a new CD when you interlace the tracks'
Newer Bigger Better
I read your list and I saw 3 inches of blood. When I lived in Vancouver they lived next door to me. Biggest dorks of all time and they never invited me to their parties and they drank budweiser even thought it was in Canada and they had a dick cat. I've seen a lot of bands and I drink a lot so i can't be bothered to list them, but the last show I went to was Star Fucking Hipsters I think. My first concert was The Allman Brothers Band in 91ish. They've had so many line up changes, only the singer is an original member at this point, so I'm wondering who was in the band when you lived next door to them. john_gacy
Really good show every time I went. On another note, it really sucks to see a band live that doesn't sound equal to or better than the recording. Rancid is a good example, they sounds horrible to me live and Tim Armstrong appears barely interested in playing his guitar, wears that shit like a woman does a handbag. Rancid is a good example, they sounds horrible to me live and Tim Armstrong appears barely interested in playing his guitar, wears that shit like a woman does a handbag. This is really true. Most of my very favorite live bands are way better live than they are on record--like the Frames, Low, and Soundtrack of Our Lives. Not that they aren't good on record, but live they are something else. On a side note, I used to have hundreds of live video clips on youtube, until my account got deleted thanks to Time Warner. I was crushed. I haven't had the heart to reupload all of it.
publicenemyno.3
went to see mos def at the metro in chicago once. talib showed up as a surprise. they did some black star joints which was fucking awesome. i don't even remember who we saw, but we got lost on the way back from milwaukee and ended up seeing the northern lights. that was more memorable than the show itself. the rest of them are pretty run of the mill. grd
Way too many to list, some of my stand outs are... Pavement, I've seen them loads the only gig I didn't really enjoy was the reunion, Sonic Youth playing Daydream Nation(with Mark Ibold), Massive Attack, The Wedding Present, Mifits with Robo(I've seen em quite a few times but that gig was by far the best), Man or Astro-Man?, Buzzcocks, Sugar Hill Gang, Fugazi, Mastodon, Lemonheads, Shellac, My Bloody Valentine, Wu-Tang Clan, New Model Army, The Dammed, Ray Davies, Super Furry Animals, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan who was fucking crap, I was super disappointed I've seen Mos Def twice, first time he was awesome second time he was AWFUL, I could go on for ages actually so I'll stop now, last band I saw was Low, they're always great. I've seen SHED loads of dire bands. The only person I've never seen and really want to is Barry Manilow. Yeah, I said it.
