i don't see how this could be a scam. i didn't think nigerians could afford a computer, let alone know how to write in english. i think you guys are blowing this out of preportion. it seems like a sweet deal and you would be stupid to pass this up.

Lend me $1000. I SWEAR I'll pay you back. God told me you were a good person.

Dear Sir,

Confidential Business Proposal

Having consulted with my colleagues and based on the information gathered from the Nigerian Chambers Of Commerce And Industry, I have the privilege to request your assistance to transfer the sum of $47,500,000.00 (forty seven million, five hundred thousand United States dollars) into your accounts. The above sum resulted from an over-invoiced contract, executed, commissioned and paid for about five years (5) ago by a foreign contractor. This action was however intentional and since then the fund has been in a suspense account at The Central Bank Of Nigeria Apex Bank.

We are now ready to transfer the fund overseas and that is where you come in. It is important to inform you that as civil servants, we are forbidden to operate a foreign account; that is why we require your assistance. The total sum will be shared as follows: 70% for us, 25% for you and 5% for local and international expenses incidental to the transfer.

The transfer is risk free on both sides. I am an accountant with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). If you find this proposal acceptable, we shall require the following documents:

(a) your banker's name, telephone, account and fax numbers.

(b) your private telephone and fax numbers —for confidentiality and easy communication.

© your letter-headed paper stamped and signed.

Alternatively we will furnish you with the text of what to type into your letter-headed paper, along with a breakdown explaining, comprehensively what we require of you. The business will take us thirty (30) working days to accomplish.

Please reply urgently.

Best regards

Howgul Abul Arhu

It is possible to find cheapish places in san diego. Last time I lived there, my sister had a 3 bedroom for $750 a month. Almost downtown on 16th. But, the craigslist response seems way to scammish to not be one.

City Heights. EastSide nigga.

actually any ghetto in San Diego.

I had a similar situation a while back when I was looking for a place. Dude told me he was a football coach and had been headhunted to coach in the premier league. The place sounded awesome so I really wanted it not to be a scam. Spoke to the guy on the phone and everything.

But I wasn't going to shell out money on a place I hadn't even seen...

I believe when it comes to property you need to have seen it before you pay anything.

my neighbor got a letter from a (fictional?) bank in hong kong using the same classic template that the nigerians have been using ... late to the party as usual in asia.

Actually, the Nigerians bought the idea from the Chinese. All the Nigerians had to do was cash a check for them......
