Things to do in Vegas when I'm dead.

Recommended Posts

So my girl and I are planning a trip to Vegas this summer and it's my first time going. I did a search but as usual, it wasn't successful.

So I'm mostly looking for food options. Price is not a problem since we're looking to have a couple decadent meals, but also some good places to save a buck or two for gambling. Outside of hookers, meth, and gambling, what else is there to do? I'm not really up for going to some Jersey Shore looking club with Tiesto doing a guest appearance. I'd also rather spend my money on booze and food than stripper's g-strings, so I'm not looking for strip clubs.

So can anyone recommend some good spots to eat or things to do? I know some of you are travelers and ballers. Help me out here.

Blue Martini for a laid back semi classy spot. On the strip but away from the casinos. Martini bar obviously.

O'sheas, Bills Gamblin Hall, Casino Royale - cheap gambling, casino bars.

You may want to spend a night fucking around in old Vegas on Fremont St. Take a taxi there.

Honestly just wander from casino to casino on the strip. All of em have various bars thru out the casino floor, sports bars, a lot have Irish pubs, and of course the clubs. (this is all within the hotel/casino)

Where you staying?

Spend the day at the pool and after sunset do the wandering.

Have a blast dude

I haven't read any responses so my bad if any of this is a repost. I'm no expert on Vegas but I had a great time at these places last summer:

great steak dinner here - http://www.wynnlasvegas.com/dining/sw-steakhouse

I won a fair amount of money at 7am (enough to recoup what I dropped at Spearmint Rhino that night) at Slots of Fun, this is right off the strip, total dive casino and definitely far from balling - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slots-A-Fun_Casino

Bills was fun and they had $1 pitchers of Sierra and some other decent beers. I also won some money there so that's most likely a factor in it sticking out over other casinos.

I was really trying to go here but it was closed last summer - http://neonmuseum.org/

If you have access to a car I suggest taking a day trip to the Hoover Damn, the tours only about an hour long and having spent my entire life on the East Coast it was definitely a site to see.

If you and your girl wanna shoot machine guns check out this place, I meant to go but ran out of time - http://www.thegunstorelasvegas.com/

Not sure what hotel we're booking, she's taking care of that. Right now we're thinking Encore at Wynn or the Mandarin Oriental. We're pushing for a suite.

We'll definitely be doing a lot of lounging at the pool with boat drinks.

We're renting a car for one day to drive out to the Grand Canyon. We talked about where to go and I opted for the Canyon over the Dam.

The Wynn restaurants look good. We're planning on doing a lot of "fancy" dining while we're there. We hear about all these celeb chefs restaurants out there, so we're psyched.

vegas sucks.

its like walking through the worlds biggest walmart, fat disgusting tourists and jersey shore guidos wall to wall on the sidewalk. and i think youre from the east coast too so let me explain what " its a dry heat" means. it means when the wind blows, its not refreshing and cool, its like a hair dryer in your face.

so yea, human trainwrecks bumping into you, with bus exhaust "breeze." the only good thing is you can carry liquor around where ever you want. You sound like you got the right idea, look for the good food and stay indoors as much as you can. good luck.

yeah, i hate vegas

last time i was there we couldn't wait to leave

it was simply a stopover between Death Valley and the Grand Canyon

which is amazing btw. but you might as well stop at hoover dam, it's practically on the way... but if you simply refuse, you might as well do the skywalk, which is in the other direction

The Encore is awesome. Me and the wife just stayed there a few weeks back in march and I was very very impressed. Don't gamble there though, its $$$$.

Like most people are saying though, just go there and go out and have a wander/look around.

Get stoned and cruise the strip with a six pack. I love how you can drink on the street in Vegas.

and like symbols said, don't expect to eat any great food. it's all expensive though.

Don't know why people hatin on Vegas. It is what it is. Plenty of Non-tourist, meth, hooker things to do. None that I can think of right now but I will. Goto lake Mead and get your boat on, jet ski, etc. Word of Caution: DON'T LET ANYONE DRIVING YOUR BOAT DRINK!! Sheriff is nasty bout DUI's on the water. They got high power binoculars looking to creep on anyone driving taking a drink.
