ONLINE BBQ SAUCES (from restaurants not stores)

Please profess your love for sweet baby rays, stubbs, jdaniels or whatever crap you buy at the store in another thread.

This is for restaurant or local BBQ sauces that sell online.

My supply of Rudy's is getting low, but I want to try something new.

Rudy's is the style of sauce I like with just a hint of hotness.

I don't really like the mesquites or anything too sweet.

I recently bought a few sauces I never heard of from Whole Foods, but they are going in the trash, I am disappoint.

I bookmarked this site - PHIL'S BBQ - after seeing it on a travel show last year, I was thinking of ordering a few bottles. Any San Diego kids have an opinion?

Anyone know of anything better, got a favorite?

Big Daddy says, "This is Carolina style barbecue sauce." This means that it is vinegar and mustard based, as opposed to the ketchup and molasses based sauces of the mid and southwest. The combination of sweet and tangy flavors brings out the absolute best in grilled or smoked pork or chicken.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Yield: Makes about 2 3/4 cups

Ingredients:

1 cup prepared yellow mustard

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup light brown sugar

3/4 cup cider vinegar

1/4 cup water

2 tablespoons chili powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon white pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne

1/2 teaspoon soy sauce

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon liquid smoke (hickory flavoring)

Preparation:

Mix all except soy, butter and smoke. Simmer 30 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 more minutes.

Gyeah!

There are two "North Carolina" styles. Eastern is a tomato based. Lexington is the pulled pork and vinegar based sauce. South Carolina style is the mustard base and its pretty good.

Lexington has a huge BBQ festival every year. Amtrak runs specials and its work checking out if youre in the Southeast. Also close to the 4th Best hotdog in America.

This place has super good and fresh rubs. The Butchers rub is a good Montreal style blend. You can use a lot of stuff they have to spice a sauce base.

Injury- Go with the original.

Phil's is OK. There are better BBQ spots in town though. Sidenote: my homie is the manager of Phil's ;)

Apparently "San Diego doesn't have any good BBQ places" though. That's coming from people I know who moved here from other states.

i gotta say... arthur bryant's easily has the best meat, but their vinegar sauce is an acquired taste and not native to kc... gates probably has the best sauce, but their meat is just okay... and ok joe's is probably the best overall. but if you're just ordering sauces, i say start with gates, but i recommend all of them.
