It's hard to find a decent pair in my size though
greyghost
^for sure spicy! i love the orange so much, the pattern ones are a tad much & yet, sorta fresh, heh... they look like a quilt tho, imo would be interesting to try and work em, but i think the more i see designers take interesting creative color/structural/material risks i definitely can appreciate em and they sorta grow on me, but oh sweet manolos always get the largest part of my <3 man, this thread+lux lingerie...woo. lady symbols, you rock :) sry bout the double mcqueen post...i thought they looked familiar. i actually own 1940s dress form i picked up @a yard sale... i dont make clothes, tho....mostly use it in painting still-lifes, ha. im not such a great sewer but i can knit/crochet...never thought about making clothes with it...cant wait to see what ya make! !@#$%
Yeah sorry. over here it's postage and packaging :) I do pay import duty which isn't too bad, it's the VAT that's the killer sometimes so I might well take you up on that Miss Symbols, thank you!! The site is great isn't it. ms.seyer
I'm not really a fan of wedges... anyone else feel the same way?
greyghost
I'm not really a fan of wedges... anyone else feel the same way? i sorta agree....theyve gotta be done superrr well and look classy (like i dig the wood wedgish balens) ...but for some reason, most of em, even the high-end stuffs, have a tendency to look somewhat cheapo imo...idk why  (like the blu&white 'anthracite leather' balens below..theres a b&w pair that look a little better tho) ...why dont ya like? i luvv cute flats/sandals for summer tho! im kinda short, so no altitude help from flats, lolz, but im not prolly as teeny as u!
ms.seyer
I think that's why I tend to not like them.... they have a tendency to look look cheapo. I guess it takes the right outfit and person to pull it off, but I just don't find any sexy in them. Maybe it's because they got that chunky ass look to it? Idk I like my heels to have a heel... nothing in the middle haha I like cute flats for casual days, and trust me I don't get any taller from them haha I don't know how short you are, but when you're at 4'11" like me you tend to still be short in heels! you
grd
"I just don't find any sexy in them." - THIS 4'11?! You're teeny tiny!! I'm 5'9 and I've had boyfriends that didn't like me wearing heels out because I'm taller than them. Those tend not to last too long.
greyghost
"I just don't find any sexy in them." - THIS DITTO THIS!!! ur so right! the wedges got booty! i know what u mean tho, i think...the stiletto/heel has somethin je ne sais quoi... like the dagger affect = makes sexay! think there are wedges from the 40/50s-style (authentic?) that have kinda a pin-upish sexay...dunno if theyd work for ya ms. sey. oh, im 5'2" give or take, lolz, so i do get a lil bit of height...omg, u go from tiny tiny to still so small! you should design high end stilzz just for itsy feet! do u have problems finding clothes? i have usually a similar problem like miss. symbols said in the other thread (i think i saw that there)... shaped more like this )( , but bein short makes things fit some places and too long/not proportionate in others, lolz. even tho i suck at sewing i usually take in my pants myself or have someone do it... same goes for coats, etc. not so much shirts/blouses/etc. neato miss sym. on the crochet thread! i think ur correct tho, lolz, dudes are not prolly gonna be too interested...there are plenty of, ahem, more interesting places on this forum im sure attracting their attention & fascination ;)
!@#$%
hmm, i like wedges. i'm a little timid about walking in pints/stilletos. *shrug* the pump/stilleto look is sexier, for sure. wedges are far more casual looking.
ms.seyer
I agree the wedges seem to have a more casual look to them, and they're a bit easier to walk in. greyghost- I usually don't have a problem finding tops, but when it comes to skirts or jeans I always need to hem them. I should design high end pumps for tiny feet! I got some crazy ass ideas  ps: I'm sooo attracted to red soles like it's no one's business. grd
I like those but they remind me of these peeps... Anyway... Rupert Sanderson S/S 2011 Jimmy Choo S/S 2011 Christian Louboutin Summer 2011(with red soles for Ms Seyer) I'm loving all the spring nude colours
greyghost
^oh, like the sandersons u posted. very cool. the nude is indeed pretty elegant & could pair well. oh, christian's gressimo gingham red/white knot pumps are just so wonderful....i really really want! :) red soles...mmm. quite divine. what is the tallest heel yall can pull off/own? im a klutzz, so i susally just like to swoon and gah over the styles and novel constructions, heh, but @tm i do own a 10cm pair (think they are)... edut:::: was wayyy off, theyre 16cm! no wonder  dont wear them for work when i know ill be standing all day. i own mostly kitten heels, i was wondering tho about practicing walkin in higher pumps/stilettos/etc. ...got kinda nerdy :P and look'd up some advice...from what i gather, this prolly seems obvious, models practice walking on their tiptoes to build the muscle, but when wearing the shoes go light on actual heel part, lift/glide foot to shift weight to toes last, but good posture/core stability, like theres a string pulling you up straight, helps, & pulling shoulders back & down, but keeping your hips/knees & arms loose concurrently, not too exaggerated in the movement tho, and short stride with legs close together... theres prolly a good video online demonstrating it. anybody practice/know/have better advice? metronome
my girl just bought a pair of manolo blahniks for our wedding. cost as much as my suit  now I want to surprise her with another pair... but I'm also liking some of the alex mcqueen stuff choices, choices...
ms.seyer
balllin!^ greyghost- maybe it would help if you got a pair with heels that are quite tall, along with a thicker platform. It would take the stress off your feet a bit. Well, from experience it does help with standing in taller heels if the platform was a bit thicker versus just a total flat one making your feel look like part of the letter N  btw I love the nude ones, I got a thing for shiny nude pairs. damn... maybe because it makes me look taller ahaha
!@#$%
greyghost, louboutin claims his shoes are made with special padding to be super comfy. damn. metronome, that's awesome. baller status indeed. i can only imagine how much the dress cost.. greyg, i saw this article, louboutin discussing his shoes. *also, definitely start with a shorter heel. i walk around the house in some shoes to prepare for a night out in them.. definitely important with the one pair of DolceGabbanas i have, they are like 6" i have pumps with a stilleto heel that are much shorter. i also once read about a method of high heel shoe classification and it went something like this: cab shoes: shoes you can only walk in from your apartment/house to the cab, then cab to restaurant, then cab to bar or whatever, then cab to house. stroll shoes: shoes you can walk in for a maximum of 3 blocks walking shoes: comfortable enough to wear any distance http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/europe/03/24/paris.louboutin.shoes/index.html?iref=allsearch Christian Louboutin reveals science behind perfect high heel But behind each trademark red-soled shoe is a feat of custom engineering. "The heel is engineering in itself," said the sought-after designer in his Paris atelier. "This little thing that supports the human weight has to have a precise balance." The materials needed to create the perfect shoe include wood lasts -- a shoemaker's mould in the shape of a human foot -- and supporting metal stems that are inserted into heels, which can measure up to 6.5 inches, to ensure that the wearer doesn't topple over. "If you just look at the heel, you are immediately going to see that if there was not the (right) engineering), it would break," the designer told CNN. "If it is not exactly inside the center of gravity position, inside the gravity line, the weight would make you flip out behind, or the weight would make you break the heel and (fall forwards)," he said. But even with heels measuring just two inches, these metal points still need to be inserted into the heel to perfect the balance of the wearer. "I wouldn't say it is an art," he said, but does admit that "it is complicated." ... .... And he believes that there is no point wearing a shoe that makes you suffer, however beautiful. Though his shoes are specially cushioned to protect wearers from pain wrought by pressure on the balls and arches of the feet, he also believes that all women are different and so have different pain thresholds. But as long as women continue to covet his designs he maintains that the sky is the limit in terms of what he can design. "For me there ain't no high heel high enough," he said. metronome
I thought the point of wearing an expensive, hand made, designer's shoe (laboutin, manolo, etc) was that they can be worn in relative comfort. Within reason I understand, standing all day in just about any shoe is going to be uncomfortable but, like Symbols just described as a "cab shoe" - whats the point ? Can you really enjoy that ?
!@#$%
^i cannot. but i suppose some women will.. for example i have a hard time wearing makeup, since i rarely wear it, when i have mascara on i can feel it and it's very bothersome. and yet, millions of women slather it on daily. they will suffer for beauty. "As Christian Louboutin prepares to launch the first pair of eight inch heels fashionistas are using Botox injections in their feet so that they can wear higher and higher heels. Victoria Beckham loves high high heels and she'll surely be one of the first in the highest stilettos yet. It is not known if she has had Botox injections in her feet." http://www.nowpublic.com/style/fashionistas-botox-feet-age-8inch-stilettos-approaches-0#ixzz1IZAQ1WfO .. i think i posted these already. would not wear them
ms.seyer
I don't know about all the science behind the comfort with heels, but when they start to hurt the only thing I can keep doing is to just keep standing or walking. I'll just ignore the discomfort. It's probably bad that i do that but I can pull off making them seem like I'm not dying
Rolf Harris
from what i have heard from weemin' is that the comfort lies in the quality of the leather in the insole o' the shoe. you can imagine that the quality o' the leather in a pair o' £1400 louboutins will be a great deal better than something you buy in your average shoe shop... or an african on canal street... grd
Getting the right fit is KEY. People don't measure their feet enough, like buying bras you need to measure often. I have a book somewhere, a little thing that came free with a magazine that I'd bought for a flight, it's got tips from all the great shoe designers and a load of models on how to walk properly in heels. I'll see if I can dig it up. The one thing I do remember it saying is, put one foot directly in front of the other. Sounds daft but apparently peoples gate is often quite 'off' and lean into your heels using your pelvis. People with good posture often have little trouble in heels. And I'm the same as Miss Symbols, if I have new shoes or even ones I haven't worn for time I'll have a day/afternoon around the house in them. Many times I've looked like a prized twat, walking to the shop for milk in 5' with joggers and a baggy tee.
