I know a guy who is a journeyman glass blower

Dude used to make vases for some company while he was in Boston.

Since moving put here to Cali the only jobs he can find are making bongs and pipes. So he quit his trade and became an art teacher.

Kinda shitty that's the only demand for an awesome artform out here.

There are two amazing glass blowers in the town of about 5,000 where I used to live here in Vermont.

I can't afford this guy's seconds, which are incredible cheap compared to his normal prices.

She has really nice drinking glasses that aren't on her website. She's more "affordable" though.

It is, but I still think it's great to see intricate handmade glassware.

I don't like smoking out of totally phat pieces because I'm a real hip hopper and only smoke blunts and joints, but there is some absolutely beautiful glassware out on the left coast, especially around Seattle...I would never spend 2 grand on something just to fill it with resin and probably drop it one day, but I still give major props to those who make them.

Similar to what's been mentioned before; I know a lot of people that do pipe work. Their stuff is great, too. I didn't think that's what we were doing here, though.

I once had a slim chance to become an apprentice for a dude in my old town. The guy was a total recluse and I only heard of him through the dinky 4 table cafe I used to spend all my day time at. The owner knew him and inquired for me when the guy mentioned wanting an apprentice. Never came around though, they guy went back into hiding and I never got the chance.

:insert cool story bro!:
