I did a ginger simple syrup once with a ton of fresh ginger root then poured some soda water to go with the whiskey and it was quite nice. You gotta have a good strong ginger ale to compliment the spice from bourbons. I always used to pick this up since vernors isnt as strong anymore. This all by itself on the rocks..
