DISTRACT
I'm living in Canada but not a Canadian citizen and have been thinking of hitching on freights to cut down on expenses. If you get caught hitchhiking freights, what's the punishment? Possible deportation? Are there any regular services from Calgary to Vancouver and vice versa? Thanks in advance

bentone
if you stand next to the tracks with your thumb in the air, the train will stop and pick you up. they may even let you drive the train if your cool enough

stix kid
Train hopping resources... http://www.thespoon.com/trainhop/ Once I was stranded in Portland and had to get to Seattle. Went down to the train yard after being up all night. Somehow I just knew if I tried to hop one of those trains I was going to die. Better to be awake me thinks. I opted for the standard hitch hike.
