its not just the tips that are the problem the with krylon, the paint itself has been getting more watery for 12 years. the current paint is just incredibly thin and drippy. when i started writing at the beginning of the 90's krylon was decent. if they would just make paint that was the same quality as 80's or early 90's krylon i would be happy.

who else remembers when krylon was almost the only paint anyone ever used for graffiti? even rusto was a distant second, especially outside of the NYC. rusto had a lot fewer and really shitty valves back then.

I feel ya on that, we called it "Bustoleum". There where a FEW good colors, like Mediterranean Teal & Safety Green, but most of the time we would pass on it. With colors like jade green, teal blue, colonial blue, coral & 40 others I cant think of off the top of my head, Krylon was the final word, for bombing, pieces, trains... whatever! I kinda feel sorry for most of these kids, they will never know the pure sex that was UFB w/ a new york fat, flat white or cherry red w/ a phantom. But hey, time marches on...

I wonder why they started making the paint thinner.. I know it wasn't for cost reasons, I wish I knew .. Maybe it's because Sherman Williams owns it now?

I have some of the "old formulations" and the sheets say "Borden" on them. I pretty much got my formulation to where I want it to be. Just 1 step left and for me it's the hardest and most expensive part. The aerosol propellant pressurization machinery.

Even more expensive than the cans/caps/shipping/personel/marketing/assembly ?

Yeah that machine it puts the propellant/gas into the can and seals it. You ever see the Montana Factory video? If not here it is:

They don't show the entire machine (kind of looks like a drill press). You need a HUGE TANK to store the Propellant. Machine cost like 50 - 100k.

my girl bought a can of the new/current krylon pumpkin orange and wanted me to paint some picture frames

i shaved the cap so it sprayed normal and i think i could totally rock with the shit no problem if there are any colors left that haven't been completely watered down to shit

i'm trying to think of what colors didn't totally suck before the switch to fan tip...

ultra flat black, watermelon,...?

or better yet, if any of you have used it since the switch and know what's still worth the grab

yesterday was probably the last time i'll use krylon. i picked up a can of silver with the good ol' female valve from the local hardware store. went out to paint a little while later. and the stuff was thinner than walmart paint! i had to go over the same spots 3 times just to start getting a solid fill. stuff is a straight up joke. i never fucked with krylon much, being that ive gone through hundreds of cans of rusto over the years and have no complaints. but im done with krylon unless i come across some cans of ultra flat black. than i'll give it another try. otherwise its a waste of time.

jade satin, banner red, true blue, burgundy satin, mauve, flat white, safety green, emerald green was pretty good(kind of), teal and grape got canceled a few years earlier, plum, clover was my favorite in the early 90s.. back then i could never get rusto to work well, now i like american accents best.

^ *shrugs* your guess is as good as mine. If art primo is trying to sell krylon without the fan tips then their advertisement is wrong.

Artprimo might have a stock of non-fan tip krylon. But is krylon REALLY going to scrap the fantips and valve systems altogether? I have my doubts.

I'm not curious because I want to buy krylon if they do away with the fan tips. I'm curious for the sake of the product development. I wonder if sales went down after they switched. Interesting.

Krylon is pretty bad, however I picked up a case of it for a buck a can last week. Female valve, satin "pebble" color. It's alright for fills but I absolutely would not spend more than a buck a can.

Drippy and thin aint no way to go through life.

SFB was the shit for lowlighting and tricks like that... I'd love to get my hands on some OSHA purple or Green.... those were dope colors

At one point you could call Krylon Directly and order Pallets of the old shit... I know i had a friend get a pallet of eith Semi flat or Ultra flat for like 2.50 a can, so he got it damn close to price... i dont know if thats what ArtPrimo did or not, just saying the options out there.

Older tapped to NFL team

After a variety of offers to test for National Football League teams, senior linebacker Jake Lewko decided to terms with the Tennessee Titans yesterday.Following several rounds of the cheap NFL jerseys breeze last weekend, co-Ivy League MVP and 2009 Penn team head Lewko conventional a call from the Titans.“The Titans called me Saturday and told my manager that they were involved in signing me to a two-year contract,” Lewko told the Burlington County Times.“Given his huge diffusion and work ethic, I am sure he will clear himself very well in this future mini camp,” Penn head coach Al Bagnold said in a statement.“Jake has worked very hard to get better himself throughout his tenure at Penn, and it is very thrilling for all worried to see his attempt and devotion pay off.”
