The Trip Hop / Acid Jazz / Downtempo Thread

Recommended Posts

The other threads for hip hop, rock, etc have done well, but no love for this niche genre yet. Hook it up with some links and recommendations of artists, tracks, etc.

Here's a sampling of some of the major shit to start it off:

DJ Shadow - Midnight in a Perfect World

DJ Cam - Summer Madness

People Under The Stairs - Schooled In The Trade

DJ Mark Farina - Piano Grand

Ninja Walk was a huge jam in SF with all the Wicked crew thumping as well as DJ Dan when he was still funky.

It's still a great song.

I used to get all kinds of acid jazz promos when I worked at a record store in 1993. Beat Goes Public always had better comps than Acid Jazz, but Acid Jazz outsold BGP something like 10 to 1.
