ILOTSMYBRAIN
So history can't repeat itself. Interesting lesson.
Decyferon
No, what I meant is that if a country was attempting genocide, then the world is set up more to deal with that kind of thing than it was back in the second world war. I didn't mean that it wouldn't happen period, I just meant that with the way information travels nowadays and international watchdogs etc it would be noticed before it escalated to the position that the Jews had. christo-f
So how do you explain what happened in Rwanda? If there is no strategic interest there is no interest whatsoever.
Decyferon
Yea Rwanda was amazingly fucked up and it was not handled the way it should have happened, lets face it the world generally doesn't give a shit what happens in Africa, and I think it is really wrong that a whole continent basically gets written off because it has nothing to offer, the UN did get involved but basically did nothing about it, which is kind of what I meant about the International watchdogs, while genocide did happen in Rwanda it didn't go on as long unchecked like the Nazis. But to be honest, that isn't what the thread is about, I only mentioned it because of the comment about Hitler being elected to power. It is more the fact that whenever anyone in here mentions taxes or anything like that then all of a sudden it is about Nazis and shit like that. To be honest sometimes I just try to put the other side of a discussion because otherwise it would be pointless having crossfire with everyone just screaming Obama is a communist scumbag and 9/11 was an inside job or global warming is a complete fantasy. There aren't enough people who contribute to this section that put forth alternative views.
