UK boy tortured kids 'because he was bored'

An 11-year-old UK boy who tortured two young boys with his brother in a wooded ravine said he carried out the horrific assault because he was "bored" and had "nought else to do", a court has heard.

The two victims, then aged 11 and nine, were pelted with bricks, stabbed, strangled and burned with lit cigarettes during the savage attack in Yorkshire last year.

One of the accused brothers, whose names cannot be released for legal reasons, allegedly told police the only reason he ended the 90-minute assault was because his "arms were aching", Sheffield Crown Court heard.

The brothers, aged 11 and 10 at the time of the attack, were reportedly asked by police how close, on a scale of one to 10, they thought they came to killing their victims.

The 11-year-old said perhaps eight or nine, the Daily Mail reports.

Gruesome details of the assault, which happened last April, emerged at the outset of a hearing to sentence the brothers.

At a court hearing in September, the two admitted subjecting their victims to a series of "horrendous" attacks on the outskirts of Edlington village.

The brothers were arrested shortly after the nine-year-old victim was found wandering through Edlington covered in blood. His 11-year-old friend was later found lying face down by the edge of a stream with serious head injuries and covered in dirt and blood.

Both brothers are to be sentenced on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, with the judge expected to pass sentence on Friday.

Addressing the court, the prosecution described in harrowing detail how the two victims were punched, kicked, pelted with bricks, forced to eat nettles and dirt and to perform sex acts on each other.

Among the evidence presented on was a series of blood-stained sticks branches and stones, one of which weighed 12 kg.

The court heard how one of the attackers cut open the younger victim's arm with a sharp stick while the other forced a lit cigarette in the wound.

At one point, the older victim had a large part of a broken sink thrown at his head as he was lying on the ground.

The duo then forced their victims to strip and told to perform a sex act on each other.

When the brothers believed someone was nearing the site of the attack, they threw a plastic sheet over their victims, which was then set alight.

They also tried to strangle the pair with a clothes line and a metal ring. Shards of broken glass were scratched across their throats, and their attackers repeatedly threatened to kill them and their families.

In another twist, the brothers also admitted causing actual bodily harm to another 11-year-old a week before the April attack.

As details of the attack came out, the two brothers sat at the back of the courtroom between care workers, watched from the public gallery by relatives of the two young victims.

During the assault, the victims asked their abusers why they were hurting them and were told it was because they had caused the brothers' grandmother to have a heart attack and die, the prosecution said.

The case sparked horror across the country, and evoked comparisons with the 1993 murder of two-year-old James Bulger by two boys who were aged 10 at the time.

Yes, its amazing stuff like this happens, and nothing will happen to these kids. But when a kid kills his friend accidentally here, he goes to jail for life. It is disgusting, people should know who these kids are, who their shitty parents are, so anything that people want to do to them, they can.

It's not so simple as to merely say this was caused by "shitty parents" although that may be the case, or they may have had some influence on this. Good example might be Dahmer. Perhaps not the best of parents, but not monsters either, certainly did not raise him to act in that manner.

damn. that's hard as fuck, this kids gonna be a monster.

No, from what I read they ended it because they had to go meet their father, nobody said their arms got tired. What I heard, the little bro said something like "oh shit! If we don't haul ass we'll be late to meet dad!"

Thats scary shit... Probably have the whole police force out looking for some pedophile monster boogeyman, while these kids grew up without getting punished, or going on to commit worse crimes.

No, that was said. It's been on the news a lot here.

This case isn't even the worst one I've heard about. Little kid called Jamie Bulger was killed by two ten years olds in the 90s. I can't begin to fathom what's going on with the boys who do this shit.

"The murder of James Bulger is a case concerning the abduction and murder of James Bulger, a two-year-old child from Kirkby, England, in 1993. His killers were two 10-year-old boys, Jon Venables (born 13 August 1982) and Robert Thompson (born 23 August 1982).

That same afternoon, James Bulger (often mentioned as "Jamie Bulger" in press reports, although never called "Jamie" by his family), from nearby Kirkby, went with his mother Denise to a nearby shopping centre. He was approximately 2½ feet tall, with fair skin, blue eyes, and light-brown hair.[3] While inside a shop, Mrs. Bulger realised her son had disappeared. He had wandered out of the shop on his own and was spotted by the two boys. They approached him, spoke to him and won his confidence, before taking him by the hand and leading him out of the precinct. This moment was captured on a CCTV camera at 15:39 (this reference states the time as 15:42).[9]

The boys took Bulger on a 2.5 miles (4.0 km) walk, leading him to a canal where he sustained injuries to his head and face.[3] During the walk, the boys were seen by 38 people.[10] Bulger was clearly distressed, but most bystanders did nothing to intervene.[3] Two people challenged the older boys, but they claimed that James was a younger brother or that he was lost and they were taking him to the local police station.[11] Eventually the boys led Bulger to a railway line near the disused Walton & Anfield railway station, close to Walton Lane police station and Anfield cemetery, where they attacked him.[3]

Facts established at trial show that, at this location, one of the boys threw blue modelling paint on Bulger's face. They kicked him and hit him with bricks, stones and a 22 pounds (10.0 kg) iron bar.[12] [13] They then placed batteries in his mouth.[14] James suffered skull fractures as a result of the iron bar striking his head. However, Dr Alan Williams, the case's pathologist, speculated that James suffered so many injuries that none could be isolated as the fatal blow.[15]

Before they left him, the boys laid Bulger across the railway tracks and weighted his head down with rubble, in hopes that a train would hit him and make his death appear an accident. After Bulger's killers left the scene, his body was cut in half by a train.[16] Bulger's severed body was discovered two days later, on 14 February.[3] A forensic pathologist testified that he had died before he was struck by the train."
