The health care bill wouldn't even get passed. The subjects listed within it contain a lot of illegal laws that the judiciary branch wouldn't even pass. Also, this is a capitalist economy; what's the point of going into socialism just to basically pay others' health care?

It was coakley's own fault. I live in Mass and Scott Brown has inundated every outlet with ads since the primaries ended. Coakley had no ads, no appearances, barely any posters or signs up until two weeks ago when the polls showed her slipping. Not to mention the guy is a former model and at least decent speaker, vs. coakley's robot voice and old-lady looks. Nobody cares about the issues, it's all about identity and recognition and he won that angle by a mile. Obama said today "the same tide that swept scott brown into office is the tide that swept me into office". Of course at first this comes off as him trying to put a positive spin on it, but actually I think it's true. People went for the more interesting, eloquent, and unusual of the two candidates instead of what they perceived (rightly so or not) as the establishment, stay the course choice. There's alot to be said for being the outsider and the underdog, if you play your cards right and if your opponent runs a disastrous (lack of a) campaign and takes their victory for granted. It's a huge setback, but rather than being pissed in general that it happened, I'm mostly just pissed at Coakley herself.

Did you see what she said when asked if she'd be out shaking hands? Hilarious. Pompous bitch.

Coakley bristles at the suggestion that, with so little time left, in an election with such high stakes, she is being too passive.

“As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?’’ she fires back, in an apparent reference to a Brown online video of him doing just that.

Really it's Obama's fault for not heeding Clinton's warning and passing the health bill quickly. Shoulda voted for Hillary.

If I was Obama I would scrap EVERYTHING and create a whole new regime. Maybe work on reforming power and electric. turning Motor city into Aeroturbine city like Van Jones wanted-- Energy independence, resurgence of the working class, and save detroit.

Power independence and aeroturbines means better air quality, health risks reduced, power costs reduced, more jobs, less unemployment, more money to be spent on health reform, and people are healtheir so its easier to reform.

WORK THE BODY OBAMA. STOP GOING FOR THE FACE.

Regime? Don't you mean "cabinet"? I would agree with the word "regime", but I don't like Obama....

Also, aeroturbines are noisy, big, and don't produce as much power as one might think. Nuclear is the short term answer in my humble opinion. It's rather clean and safe in this day and age.

Not his cabinet, his short term strategy. Maybe his cabinet. I really liked Van Jones andhe's gone.

Its actually incredibly dirty to mine uranium, which is why we outsource all the mining to other countries. That wont last forever tho.

Plus all the toxic waste, nuclear war scares, and wars that ensue.

And aeroturbines are perfect for the short term. They call the midwest the saudi arabia of wind. Building aeroturbines are also incredibly complicated and require just as many engineers and factory workers as cars do. GM could head up the project, revamping detroit and all good things come after.

Well, if he's getting rid of his cabinet, might as well start with Geithner. He's in some hot water right now and needs the boot,

While this might be true with uranium (I honestly don't know much about the mining of it, so I assume you are correct but do not know), The power nuclear facilities make is clean.

The rods and other materials that are toxic: New bacteria has been discovered that eats radioactive waste. Check it out.

Development and implementation of new solar cell technology would be a good thing. There are some new developments in spray on solar cells which look promising.

Edit: I just realize im way too tired to be writing statistics, so I'm just going to pick this up tomorrow. If you want to what Obama's (ex) environmental advisor believed here: http://fora.tv/2009/02/02/Van_Jones_Green_New_Deal His beliefs are still likely to be held with other members of his environmental advisory committee.

Also TED's got a bunch of info on the plane states and our "saudi arabia of wind"

Re: No "Mass elects a republican senator, tips the senate, kills the healthcare bill" thre

I think one thing that all those dumbass pundits etc got wrong is that ''oh this is a natl referendum'' on healthcare reform. fuck that, we in massachusetts already have health insurance for all, we already have one of the healthiest states in the union, because we decided as a state it was worth it to us to pay the extra taxes.

If we can do that, why can't Texas? And why does Nebraska get special treatment in the Senate version?

It's not that I agree with these sentiments (I actually don't), but they resonated in talk around me (the majority of them would-be Capuano votes, as it would be), but to say that Massachusetts voters have the same interests at heart as Tea Party voters because we elected Scott Brown is kind of ridiculous, and I wish that honest journalists would call shenanigans on the bullshit ulterior motive analyses, more than anything I wish would happen as far as reforming govt.

For example, it is such bullshit that journalists are talking shit about Coakley's inability to talk shit about Scott Brown's Aruba house. WHERE THE FUCK WERE THE JOURNALISTS??

for the record, I voted Coakley, even if she was stuck-up

You'd be amazed how many time's it's been used in scifi, comic books, and in the aerospace industry. At this point it's more of a nod to the genre.

Sorry, sorry, back on subject. Republicans bad. Hurr durr.

HONESTLY tho this guy is Scott Brown's as ridiculous as the Governator and the novelty around him will wear thin just as fast.

Re: No "Mass elects a republican senator, tips the senate, kills the healthcare bill" thre

Obama's in the midst of an unusually cruel smear campaign where TV news groups are interfering with the facts of his health bill and his cabinet among other things, rather then telling people the truth. The republicans just want to be the ones to take credit for health reform etc so they're stagnating his presidency as much as possible until they can get a republican in there to take all the credit.

Obama has no similarities to Arnold Schwarzenegger who was given the support of Californians for 3 years. All that we've seen out of it is public school class sizes double and our deficit go up.

Scott Brown is a law student from a very wealthy family who's only mentionable quality is that he's a "family man" which is peculiar, because if my dad was naked in Cosmopolitan and my mother was a vain model/actress/news reporter, I'd kill my family. He has absolutely no concept of the normal american working family. He's a republican celebrity, like arnold. That's the similarity.

I said Scott Bush's family was wealthy. I didnt say anything about his parents being separated. Wakefield's a small town with yacht club and on average everyone makes about 30k more than everyone else in Massachussetts. The town's ethnic makeup is canadian, irish, italian, english, german, and white. You cant make this shit up if you tried.

soup mad.

what's it matter which politician gets to office? they're both lying ass politicians. they're MAIN OBJECTIVE is to get re-elected. to hold the seat for their party. they care not about any issues.

it's impossible to please everybody all the time, so they appeal to the majority vote. ALWAYS. this time the majority they needed to appeal to liked "good ol' boys" and that's the spin they put on it.

until people stop being completely fucking retarded, this is how our political system works. that is to say, barely works. but it's still better than mob rule.

it's just arguing about politics is fucking pointless. whens the last time anyone converted based on what you had to say? hmm?

I'm stating facts Earth. Undeniable statistics on Wakefield. The median income of Wakefield is 20 grand MORE than the state average, which is the 6th highest state average in America. It's a small town of 24k people with little more than a yacht club and a non-white population of 1%. You decide if they're wealthy.

NSMB I dont know how you or anybody else can come into crossfire and think theyre contributing with the "Politics suck. All politicians are the same." rhetoric. Its like going into any thread and saying "this blows" then leaving. Thats NOT contributing.
