MOOGLE?
As long as people are classified as being of races we can differentiate between, there will be racism. Obama is whatever to me. He's doing what he can, but he's not what all his blind supporters fellated into office (some of these people who wouldn't stop fawning over him during the elections are now his most vocal haters because the world didn't change over night, I fucking hate them), nor was he ever going to be. It's truly a shame DAO isn't here, this thread would probably be 11 pages long by now. that.

`Melinoe
1 year in office and people still call him BLACK....even with many many many images of his WHITE mother being on display in the media. america will never get over race. Jesus Christ already. Of course they're going to call him black. Majority of people still see things in the one drop point of view. You really expect that to change? /thishasprobablyalreadybeensaid
SystemFailure
HE'S BROWN RIIIIGHT? Naw, like I said in the beginning people put waaaay too much hope in one guy. So many wheels have been turning for so long once someone a "change agent" gets into office his shit buckles like all the others. There's sponsorship pay offs that need to be met. All that money he's given to campaign, you gotta pay the companies back somehow and that's by doing/not doing things for their interest. Shit's all the same, while everyone was hung up on his color in support or not, I was busy not paying attention because a president can never represent the people. Just not how it is. shai
Anyone who expected Obama to change everything to suit their needs/tastes is probably too lazy to do it themselves.
TheoHuxtable..
"Hasn't live up to his promises, but I still like him" Guantanamo Bay still not closed. Watered-down health care bill with no public option. No significant drawdown of troops in Iraq. His problem is that he's pushing himself to the right to be "centrist" and please Republicans. Forget it, they're still calling you names regardless (socialist, Muslim, etc.), so you might as well run on your liberal policies you stated in the campaign and ignore the Republicans. However, he has made waterboarding illegal. He has removed many of Bush's policies. The world does have a more favorable opinion of him than they do of Bush. There has been some change. But not enough.

Early on he made a comment about "Corporate interests have run America for far too long, that needs to end, blah blah blah" and I thought it was pretty ballsy just to say that. I think he WANTS to get certain things done, but a) not always for the right reasons and b) he's hemmed up by the GOP....did anyone who supported Obama expect the neo-cons to do anything but block this guy for the next four years? I saw that one coming a mile away.
Enmity
to me considering the amount of shit he had to deal with coming into it .. hes doing a good job i think. he is a tooper.. the us is a great country... its just a few asshole radical country's that fuck it up for everybody over some bullshit beliefs

They don't have the votes in the House by a long shot, and are barely missing enough votes in the Senate. Democrats have a supermajority. However, the GOP can cause a rise amongst the public; lie & distort Obama's policies through their politicians, and through private proxies among corporate lobbyists, radio personalities like Rush Limbaugh, and of course Fox News... and scare Americans in to organizing "tea parties" and the like. The second problem is Obama's personality. Too much of a "nice guy" and trying to hard to suck up to the right. Bush & Cheney rammed their policies through Congress & ignored anything remotely "bipartisan" or hearing Democrat's opinions. The main people that can (and have) block him are the conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats in both the House & Senate, but especially the Senate. Mercer
I could care less about obstacles in pursuing domestic and foreign policy. He had a chance to make a difference as a true leader, not through policy, through inspiring a social change here using his connection to the people. I really though he was going to do something significant, had the gift of making great speeches and the following to do it. Ever since the inaugural speech though his public speaking has become more and more generic and monotone, regular politician status. Like before the election so many people would get energized every time he spoke, full of hope and whatever. Now when I see him talk he looks drained and like he's just reading the teleprompter, nothing special. I guess this is my biggest disappointment, wasted talent, maybe I expected too much but that's exactly what we need. Guess I should have voted "Hasn't live up to his promises, but I still like him " but I'm naturally a hater I guess and say he sucks. Not that McCain or Hillary would be any better, they would suck much worse.

I've seen several Dem bills that he sponsored come down to one vote. That doesn't imply the supermajority is working. The past decade was a joke...the neo-cons had a free ride. Amazingly some of them are still trying to cash out. You're right, though. He's become a cause for conservatives from both parties to rally around. Coalition politics have swung exactly the wrong way for Obama.

Not that McCain or Hillary would be any better, they would suck much worse. You really thought he would inspire "social change"? Like all the baby daddies/mamas in the hood and gang bangers would be in school or holding jobs now that Obama's president? Bloods & Crips would stop feuding? I was inspired by his speeches during the campaign and saw "hope" too, but mainly on the basis that he was a great contrast to the 8 years of Bush, but even throughout that I knew not to get too caught up in it. He's only a man. Some people in the hood actually believe that Obama was going to start handing out checks to their lazy asses.
Mercer
I'm talking about energizing people here as far as reaching goals as a country. Not parting the red sea for the Crips to cross the great Compton dessert. Unite people for a common purpose, inspire true pride.
screaming hand logo
i think he really is trying. but you really can't do anything against the corporations because you will lose no matter what whether it be death or failure. and the gop is doing everything it can to not let obama succeed no matter what it does to this country. i consider myself an independent that leans to the left a bit more. im unhappy with obama but i realize what he is up against. I was also hoping Limbaugh would have died i listen to him quite a few times a week on the AM dial and dumbfounded by him and his followers. I also have a lot of respect for what he has been able to as far as that goes. you know get a bunch of retards to follow is every word. ~KRYLON2~
i remeber feeling relief when he was elected. if more people were educated in america they would understand there's no quick fix for our problems. obama is good in my book. detroit red
the main reason he got voted in is due to voter turn out. i dont remember the numbers....i just remember them reflecting the fact that people got off their asses and actually voted. however....the sad part is....the numbers also reflected the sad fact that still way less than 50% of registered voters actually vote. injury
i wish health care wasn't pressed in these economic conditions. i also wish the funds given to GM and in other "bailouts" had been regulated and more traceable. someone's bought boats off this shit, and they're gonna figure that out in 20 years, but not now. truthfully, i wish the bailouts hadn't happened, but that would have destroyed several entire economies that are already sliding fast. abrasivesaint
just another president. dont mind him, it'd be cool if he forced MA to stop having a law that forces you to have, or pay for health insurance, or get taxed.
