I've taken a benzo four times in my entire life, and after that night described I didn't touch them again. It's been about 7 months and now I took one this morning to see if it improved my day a little bit...say what you will about it being a bad plan, but I don't think that can qualify as an addiction by anyone's standards

you made it sound as if you took them on the regular. speaking from experience, dont go down the path. you will not make it to the 30 days and by that i mean you will likely start taking more than one a day, build a tolerance, then be on the roller coaster.

or you can just say fuck it. most of us here do probably.

Quitting booze really helped me out a lot.

I used to kill half gallons of Belvedere to my dick in a single night and do like 2 ball games.

Now I have NO desire to drink. I haven't been drunk in over a year (I stopped when I stopped opiates.)

Out of all drugs it has the LEAST desirable effects. It definitely fucks with your brain chemistry and in the day is when you would feel the effects.

Partying as a whole is just dead to me. That shit will not make me rich so I want nothing to do with it.

But yeah - I'd highly suggest taking a break from all forms of alcohol and narcotics for a bit just to see the effects. Go 2 months without touching a single thing and then if it didn't work just go back to your thang, but I guarantee it will feel great. We lie to ourselves and justify whatever we want, hell I still do some blow every other weekend and smoke trees but on the other hand I haven't been in a bar or a party in over a year and my mental state can't be fucked with.

Number one thing I learned is to NEVER get caught up in today. You need to have a grand scheme - a huge, epic goal that will complete you and give you something to look forward to. Each day that I wake up, I know that I'm getting up to do my best to become filthy rich and unlock the world and the insignificant things happening today won't matter down the road. The average person isn't shit because the average person can't do this. "Living for today" is really an excuse for people to not try hard. When we're 40 and getting paid the same as a 25 year old and all the parties are done and we're struggling to raise a family we will wish we put all that shit to the side and worked hard.

Klonopins are minty. I can't fuck with benzos when I was young and dumb I ate 12 xanax footballs and woke up in jail. Im in the .0002% who wigs the fuck out on benzos, I get real angry.

Benzos aren't something you want to fuck with longterm. I know someone whos been eating them for years on end. Cant live without them. The withdrawls can throw you in a seizure and kill you. Plus people trip the fuck out withdrawing , they really fuck with your senses. My boy said it felt like he was pissing himself every 3 minutes. I've read people feeling like their teeth were rotating in their sockets and arms were falling off. Like most of the good drugs easy to get a habit and tolerance, hard as hell to kick.

They also thin your blood out. So 1 beer is pretty much 3-4. Easy to not wake up.

I always ask people who take them everyday....why? That shit puts black holes in your life / memories. You look at a calendar and cant remember what the fuck you were doing back then. Im not one to talk though, I got serious abuse issues.

That's cool that works for you and all, but that kind of attitude has never been a part of my life and isn't something I'd even want. That's part of why me and my girl broke up, she couldn't focus on having fun day to day, and I couldn't focus on doing everything strictly for a possible future. "Having too much fun today, we ain't even thinkin about tomorrow"

I'd like to have a healthier mental state, but I'm also not, in the least bit, interested in giving up going out and partying. I'm just trying to find a balance right now.

And I know benzos are horrible for you long term, that's why I'm taking it for 30 days. They're only effective about that long anyways, as far as treatment for manic depression goes. After those 30 days I might try and get on something more permanent, like Prozac...maybe not. We'll see how I feel then

Wow, you're really dead set on killing yourself, aren't you? I've known three people who have died as a direct result of taking klonopins and alcohol together.

Let me state this as simply as I can.

My guess is that you drink and do drugs not so much for the fun but because it helps you deal with something you don't want to face sober. I don't know what that is, I could take a couple of guesses but it's really not important.

You don't want to give up coke (which is the most pointless drug in existence) because you can't recognize (or admit) that you're in a binge cycle with the stuff. You seem to understand where you're at with drinking but aren't ready to cut that out or at least slow down and I'm not going to tell you that you should...okay, I will- you should cut down on the drinking.

Anyway, drinking and drugs has obviously NOT helped you deal with whatever is bothering you. No matter where you go, there you are....and now you want to add an extremely powerful downer to the mix knowing full well you don't plan to slow down AND that you have an addictive personality.

So this doesn't sound at all crazy when it's played back to you? Because it sounds pretty crazy to me.

You can tell me I'm wrong all you want but this isn't my first rodeo. I've been in the getting high/drinking/denial/unaddressed mental health issues business since...well, since before you were born, I think. I wouldn't lie about this to anyone, especially when I think they're asking for help and don't really know how to do it.

Whatever you decide to do, DON'T mess with klonopins. It's way too risky.

Its cool I wouldn't expect more than maybe one or two people on this board to feel that.

It takes a rare breed to walk out on all their friends and the fun - but nothing scares me more than being 35 and everyone has moved on, the fun stops and I'm on some average joe shit until I die. I'll work hard NOW, and party when I'm 35. I'll be able to do anything I want and get any bitch I want to fuck me in my Maserati and I won't need to worry about my lifestyle cus I'll already have my future secure.

Its all good though mang just offering advice to people take it or leave it.

Now, those of you suggesting I also chill out on the drinking, you're probably right but quitting drinking isn't something I'm ready to do. It also isn't something that triggers my manic depressive episodes, as they always occur during the day, when I'm stone sober.

My man- this statement sums up your whole issue here. All chemicals (alcohol, coke, benzos, etc.) have an effect on your mental state LONG after the high.

I know where you're coming from. And I've been in similar places before. But this is some REAL ROOKIE SHIT right here.

Basically if you feel fucked in the head, then give your brain a chance to relax. And not a day off drinking or a week off coke- but a real break.

Friendly advise/ NH.

"In 1993 Dr. Grob directed the Hoasca Project, the first in-depth study of the physical and psychological effects of ayahuasca on humans. He and his team went to Brazil, where the plant mixture can be taken legally, to study members of a church, the União do Vegetal (UDV), who use ayahuasca as a sacrament, and compared them to a control group that had never ingested the substance. The studies found that all the ayahuasca-using UDV members had experienced remission without recurrence of their addictions, depression, or anxiety disorders. Unlike most common anti-depressants, which Grob says can create such high levels of serotonin that cells may actually compensate by losing many of their serotonin receptors, the Hoasca Project showed that ayahuasca strongly enhances the body’s ability to absorb the serotonin that’s naturally there [4]. 'Ayahuasca is perhaps a far more sophisticated and effective way to treat depression than SSRIs [antidepressant drugs],"

aight doggy. Im not about to read the past 4 pages but let me just add this.

Ive got drug abuse problems. Always have

Same as you i've had some very very questionable benzo experiences.

My behavior on them couldnt be described as anything less than insane.

Even as i was completely aware of this i tried to justify xanax... tried convincing

myself that i needed it for legit reasons... that i could take it responsibly.

It never worked. NEVER

but hey. Do you. Maybe you have the self control i dont. Who knows.

I lack self control on alot of things, but benzos aren't one of them. When abused they make me into an evil human being I would never want to be again, so I can definitely take those responsibly
