The two invites that I got I gave to two friends- one who knows how to properly torrent and one who doesn't. One is doing fine on What, while the other is already on ratio watch. pornbooth, jump on all those freeleeches and seed them for a week. by the end of the week you'll have enough extra ratio to go house downloading whatever you want. I got mine up to 2.5 by using the freeleeches like that. After I've seeded this new crop for long enough, I don't think I'll have to worry about even having to seed ever again. Watson, you can get on their IRC channel and get an invite, I think that's how a lot of people do it. The only way I can describe it is a giant music store for music lovers. Every band that has been uploaded practically has a bio with streaming music (if you have the current plug-in) from their myspace and/or last.fm. So it makes it easy to preview and know about the band beforehand. On top that the regulations are very strict, if you don't abide by their rules, you're kicked out. If you don't seed and meet the certain ratio requirements, you're kicked out. All the music that is uploaded has to be a certain bit rate and needs to be properly uploaded or it's deleted..... so on and so forth. It's great. I've been on there for two years and have not become a power user - because I don't seed that often. They recently implemented a new way to calculate ratio so it is a lot better for new users. And honestly, as theme said, the best way to keep a good ratio is free leech and the top 10 of the day. If you hit this shit with your torrent application running for a week and are steady downloading you'll be good to download freely. They've essentially set up a torrent site where everything has a decent amount of seeders (hence the strict rules) so everything downloads VERY quickly. When I was online there, I had downloaded 4GB, had about 16GB actually available to seed, and never managed to top 1GB in a month's seeding time. I just realized they banned one of my invites about 7 months ago after he downloaded 5.92 GB and had only uploaded 9.94 MB. So, I read a post regarding this issue from an admin and- "People who download too much and just leech themselves to death are not evil, they just aren't so bright. Unless you have numerous leech happy invitees you re not in any danger." So yeah... I think that sums it up right there. I usually keep it pretty low though. The new ratio levels they're talking about instituting should be nice. I've gotten a ratio increase of .16 within 24 hours from seeding these freeleeches. IMO Everything (sans the psytrance) that I've listened to so far is good music, but I've got a fairly "open ear."
