russell jones
Person of the Year does not mean best person. It means most important, look up the list, it includes Hitler, Stalin and Khomheini.
ILOTSMYBRAIN
LOL! Seriously don't even know what to say. Congrats I guess, HAHA!
BraveNewWorld
yeah, thier picks for Person of the Year have always been shitty. Stalin won it twice, Bush won it twice, just to name a few. But this goes PERFECT with Obama being awarded the Peace Prize! haha

christo-f
Person of the year is the person who for better or for worse has done the most to influence the world over the past year. Not who was the best at something. They were going to name OBL in 2001 but didn't want to risk the backlash from all the people who didn't understand what Time Person of the Year was all about. Reading this thread seems to justify their decision.
nsmbfan
politics is so fucked. worse so is money. and this guy is the leader of, essentially, both. he runs the store that prints the money that makes the world go round. most powerful man in the world? quite possibly. angelofdeath
i think he probably is the most powerful man in the world. the US is the reserve currency of the world and he is the biggest counterfeiter of all time. i know exactly who time puts on the cover every year. hitler, stalin, mao, bush, bernanke, greenspan, churchill, roosevelt, truman... all statists and/or mass murders. time loves power. end of story. also note that last time a fed chairman was on the cover of time was greenspan when he 'saved the world.' also note, greenspan was the chief cause of the boom. Are you ignoring the fact that there are no value judgements in the choice of person of the year? Are you aware that it solely based on influence and that influence is intrinsic in the concept of power?
BraveNewWorld
Are you ignoring the fact that there are no value judgements in the choice of person of the year? Are you aware that it solely based on influence and that influence is intrinsic in the concept of power? Christo-f, go a little deeper. This is what i think the true underlying effect really is: When eighty percent of your most average people are- mindlessly walking the insides of stores shopping, sitting in subway carraiges going places, or in an epic rush to make it to work on time- they pass up news stands, see other people reading these magazines, or graze past the articles online...(Remember, eighty percent of your most AVERAGE dumbed down americans) And briefly glance to see on the front cover of time magazine, a portrait of Ben Bernanke....now, at this very second, no mental dialogue or connection is made- the simple ones that we are discussing in here.... (That the only reason hes person of the year, is because he is HIGHLY influencial, be it negative or positve.) These people dont know its only that; an unbiased vague acknowledgement of his influence. They see "Person of the Year".. and that title alone to them sounds honorable and something to respect. And this transaction of subconscious thought happens in a moments time. So now next time they see him on tv or hear about him in the news....subconsciously they've been "pre-programmed" if you will, without critical thought, to recognize him as a good person..."SHIT IF HES MADE PERSON OF THE YEAR FOR TIME MAGAZINE, HES GOTTA BE AN ALRIGHT GUY" so now, no red flags are raised when he is brought up in conversation or seen on the television.NO RED FLAGS FOR CRIMES THAT ARE DESTROYING THIS NATION... Hes the smiley smart man with bi-colored hair on his head that works for money banks and helps the the economics of our country;) so now, this guy breezes through with a green light from everyone EVEN THOUGH HES A PIECE OF SHIT TREASONIST DICKHEAD LIAR. which at the end of the day is why he is sooooooooooo successful.
