Some assistance needed.

Recommended Posts

I've got a Blackberry Bold 9000 mobile phone. Currently it seems to be locked and only accepts other Vodafone sim cards, however I am going on away and will need to put foreign sim cards in there at some stage so I don't pay $$$$ in international calls.

Is there a way to unlock this shiz for free?

Cheers....

i dont know how vodaphone works, but in the us you have to have an acct with AT&T or T-Mobile and just take it in to a store and tell them you are going overseas for military service and they will do it. You have to have an acct tho, if you dont just find one of your boys who does...

not every GSM phone uses unlock codes, some need to be hooked up to a computer and unlocked with software. Also most TMobile phones come already unlocked

Thing is the phone isn't even mine so won't they ask where the fuck I got it from?

Plus the number i use (pre-paid) isn't even registered to my name.

you have to have a contract in the US for them to unlock it, I would assume its the same in Oz except you are upside down when they do it... but no if you get your boy with a vidaphone contract to say hes going over seas they dont check name or whatever, because he can say he just bought it

I can give you one of my old prepaid phones when you get here, it might still work. If it doesn't, just buy a new one. They're dirt cheap and you'll have a souvenir.

Take it to the shop where you got it and ask them.

I don't know jack about cell phones besides the fact that I hate the things. If you still need a phone when you get here, my offer stands.

You don't have one friend with a PC?

If you're totally over a barrel, I'll bring my laptop when I come meet up with you and I'll help you do it. But try to get it done before you leave.

Haha, what the hell are you gonna bring your stuff in? I don't think they'll let you check Hefty Bags as luggage.

On the way to the airport? Jeez...just go to a army surplus store and get a duffel bag. Put all of your breakable shit in the middle of the bag. Put all of your soap/toothpaste/deodorant in two plastic bags and put that in the center too.

If you're worried about security, get some zip ties and use those to keep your bag shut.

for the blackberry you need a sim unlock code, these codes vary depending on your phones IMEI number, so unless you pay for it, or have someone who has vodaphone call them up w/ your IMEI # to get the code you're probably out of luck

I did. If you want I can try unlocking your phone when you get here (at your own risk, naturally).
