watson
don't stare me down because i didn't give you any money it's not my fault you volunteered ringing a bell in 20 degree weather how do you not realize you make people cringe over the holiday season? you're probably going to steal half the cash in the little red bucket anyway i really never give these people money. they've ruined charity for me the only time i donate is for things dealing with veterans
Drue_Down
Since I stopped smoking cigs and weed, I don't carry cash anymore. Until they start letting me swipe my debit card, I'm not gonna feel guilty.

Bojangles
On the real, Salvation Army helped my family out BIG TIME many times growing up. You guys should hook them up with some chump change when you see them. I probably wouldn't be here if not for them and a few others. I know most of you on here don't know what it feels like to really need, but the money they bring in, helps those who really need it. I always donate substantially to them every year. Bojangles
Now Bojangles is making me feel guilty too I'm not gonna' be on some dictator shit and close this thread (even though I want to) But...S.A. helps a LOT of inner-city people, every year. I even met my best friend to this day in one of their shelters as a child. They have a standard 2 week "Stay period" that you can be in one of their facilities if you've got nowhere to go, and guess what? ...If that 2 weeks runs out, they do whatever it takes to make sure you've got a roof over your head, even if it means running the funds thin. I know a lot of you on here have never dealt with TRUE homelessness, (not some "Crust Punk yada-yada") but if you ever do, God forbid...hope these people are in your area. I NEVER carry cash these days (Even though I'm balling out of control). I pay for stamps at the post office with a debit card. If I saw that, I'd be down to give more on the spot because that's how most Americans roll nowadays with thier loot.

Bojangles
Fuck the Salvation Army, they take stuff donated to them for free and sell it to the needy. It's complete and utter bull shit. I'll piss in that bucket before I put a single penny in there. Really? So should I send them your info and tell them that you've volunteered to sort through all the shit they get and you'll sit and retail it for free, so they get all the profits to help people? /yeah...immad. Money makes the world go 'round people. You have to pay people to gove a damn about those who no one gives a damn about.

I've known some shady ass people who do that. But i do try to give to SA directly.

northside writer
still if i was to donate, i'm more for veterans/toys4tots/coat drives As a marine i am completely down with donating for the veterans and i can speak from first hand experience toys4tots is an extremely amazing organization and i have gotten the opportunity to actually hand out the toys to these kids is just something i will never forget.. if you want to donate to a charity that is truly for the people receiving the charity go buy a toy and donate it..
Swindle
id rather donate/feel guilty for not donating to charities then get harrassed by preachers every fucking where i go "you have mutilated your body, repent for your sins or you will serve in hell" "get away from me freak, i dont wana be anywhere near you when im dead"
KITTENS
the salvation army bell ringers are perhaps the single least annoying thing about "the holiday season" for me.
R@ndomH3ro
According to charity watch the Salvation Ranks high on Finacnces...meaning they give a lot of their "profit" to the people they are supposed to help http://www.charitywatch.org/articles/salvarmy.html
pornbooth
^ beat me to it but this is what i know that job pays at least minimum wage, those positions received more applications in my area than any other other job. and also the Salvation Army gives far more than the required 85cents to the dollar that is required by legit charities. they do very good things but they do make me feel guilty if i dont give any money and that is wrong in my opinion.
