morton
The easy way to calc yearly income is to take the hourly wage and double it, ie 8 per hour equals plus or minus 16K per year.
pornbooth
its not horrible.my mom raised two kids on 8 dollars an hour.idk what that is in one year tho.not alot... same here and now she's on permanent disability and gets 1000 a month from social security, she survives... ya sometimes ill shoot her some flo when i can cause something may come up but still thats 12 grand total income for her and it works mostly. its sad, no actually fucked up to see people bitching how 100k plus a year aint enough to be comfortable c'mon really

SheepOrDie
this is an interesting thread, a lot of dropouts here. i dropped out before senior year, found a great paying 9 to 5 job at 18. No GED. most companies arent too worried about your education background, they just want to know if you can multitask in distracting environments and are good with people then you can pretty much get any job if you really make the effort. just because you dont have the patience to learn in a regular classroom setting does not make you lazy or dumb. One reason why I couldnt stand high school and college is because its all the same boring structure. Sit down in a large class for an hour, listen to a guy yap about whatever while taking notes on what you think is important. Assignments every day, test in two weeks. Large assignment end of quarter, and repeat for four years. It doesnt help that most college lectures are on powerpoint, the class is dark and that makes it easier to fall asleep. if i really want to learn about something i go to the library and check out a book on it. but yeah the GED test is easy. math part might get a little annoying though. morton
My favorite question from the ged was "you park your car in a lot that charges 15 per hour and leave it there for one and a half hours, what is the total cost?" Mighty challenging math there.

ohnoone
I used to only make like 16 grand a year when I was 18. I was pretty broke all the time, but I still managed to pay my bills and afford handles of vodka to get drunk at home. I could do A LOT with 140 grand thats what im sayin. ohnoone
How about one forty with four kids? I paid 1200 per month for day care for my kid when he was in full time day care that comes out to 57,600 per year for day care alone. Thinking 140 is easy street is not sound logic. dont have 4 kids. Drue_Down
homeboy im not saying its rockstar by no means but $120,000 a year is TEN THOUSAND A MONTH. all that adds up to $8000 fucking dollars a month which leaves $2000 dollars a month left over. a MONTH bro. times that by 12 for a year, equals $24,000 a year you could bank. now lets times that by a MINIMAL 4 years, thats close to $100,000 SAVED, for retirement in FOUR years. thats a drop in the bucket to a family. in twelve years, thats $288,000 bucks aswell as a home that would more than likely be paid off. a nice one with a 2 grad mortgage. your clueless. *you're Cool math bro, ever heard of income taxes? By your logic this family is going $1,300 in debt each month. That's $15,600 a year in debt. This family is fucked. 4 years = $ 62,400 in debt 12 years = $187,200 in debt That is before factoring in interest on that debt.

SwampFightOner
^ Politicians have alot more income than their salary. It's usually barely a chunk of the money they got coming in. And like I said, I didn't say 140K a year (between two people) was ballin, but the muthafuckas on here who act like it's nothing are boggling my mind Like I said, my parents own 2 modest homes, 2 cars, and go out and spend alot of money. They eat out damn near everyday, have all the newest electronics, go on vacations, and always have cash to give my two useless sisters, like paying their rents for them pretty much every month. Nevermind the insane amount of money they spend spoiling my niece (obviously their Grandkid). When I was younger the cash flow wasn't as good, because my Mom didn't work at all and my Dad made slightly less. He worked two (sometimes three) jobs, and probably made somewhere closer to 80-90K a year. Even then they owned one house, one car (and got a new one every few years), and had 4 kids living at home who always had good food, good clothes, and every toy we could have wanted

nsmbfan
do you know why people invent creative ways to fuck each other? do you? it's because humans cannot be satisfied. it CANNOT be done. we are creatures of excess. we get something we want, then we want something else to fulfill the SAME NEED. it's a vicious circle. don't say you wouldn't want MORE, if you just had SOME. because if that were true, you'd be the next fucking Ghandi. minimalist and shit, wearing sheets and sandals. either you want it all, or you want none of it. nobody is content with what they have. that would be boring.
