a couple years ago i came across a little kids drawing. it was a big whale with a small whale above it and a rainbow above that. it was cool as shit. this little kid was so happy about his drawing that he didnt care (or even realize) that it wasnt 'real.' that whales didnt fly in the sky with rainbows. he drew it because in his head, thats what he saw. ever since then ive tried approaching alot of my art in much of the same way. looking at things as a child would. doing simple things that feel good and make me happy as opposed to being 'technicaly' correct. i can draw pretty fucking good, but its not always much fun. all these stickers were made in dibs living room on 'heavy metal sticker night.' each thursday we get together, listen to old heavy metal records, drink beer, and make stickers. its fun. its what art (and graff) should be about (IMO). i never sit there getting all bent out of shape cause i cant make my N fit with my S(even though that is fun too sometimes), i sit there laughing because 'why is the dinosaur riding a bike?' they arent supposed to be technicaly good, fuck, i draw them with my left hand to make sure they arent (im right handed.) they make us laugh. each time i do them i have to try and top myself. what sort of 'outlandish' thing can i make my dinosaurs be doing... its fun. graff doesnt have to be all skulls and hate. when i started writing it was because it was a big mystical world. much like everything is when your a kid. after a few years it got to be all politics and nonsense. these dinosaurs dont care about politics. they care about drinking beer with their friends.

thanks to anyone that read all that.

crossfade, id be happy to trade stickers. if your interested hit me up...

it depends, lately its been alot of 'doom rock' that his friend is putting him on to. bands like 'alabama thunderpussy' 'electric wizard' 'acid death bloody skull' and, oh wait, i made that last one up, but seriously, its all this crazy slayer meets vicodin style stuff. real fresh. they still have long hair and 'child molester mustaches.' if any of you were old enough to remember 'burnouts' then you'll know exactly who im talking about. we also listen old hardcore style stuff from his 'old' vinyl collection. 7"'s by bands i never remember the names of... fudge tunnel, godflesh etc. good stuff.

and yes my friend, you do...

I proclaim now... that the dinosaur watching the TV is my new friend. he makes me smile. He has yet to tell me his name, I think he is shy. But he is friendly, and he shares his soda.. so I consider us friends. Hopefully he feels as happy as I do about this. He shure looks like he does.

Bump for doing whatcha like.. 2nd grade art is great!

Those look like they were a lot of fun to draw. I read the post with Seeking's philosophy and I think that it gave me a lot more respect for him. People take themselves way to seriously. As soon as one realizes that they are as big of a joke as the next guy, then life becomes a lot more fun.
