earl broclo ESQ
Cambodians, Laos, etc etc have quite a history of smelling like fish. And before anyone can tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I grew up right on the border of an Asian neighborhood and my elementary school was literally like 75% Asian My girlfriend is a Lao refugee. They tend to use fish oil when they cook, so that could be the "fishy" smell. Most Americans probably wouldn't get down with Lao food, and the smells associated with it usually turn them off. I personally like most of it, even if it smells like bad pussy and low tide --it tastes good with sticky rice! As for Asians smelling like mothballs? I don't know, most houses I've been in, that smelled like mothballs, were owned by some crusty old boring conservative white people. I've never really dealt with the mothball factor in Asian homes.
