earl broclo ESQ
So they are releasing Boondock Saints II, and I'm amazed this got clearance. I saw the original one and to be honest I thought the shit was cornball. But I've met a ton of people who say this movie is one of their all time favorites and they defend it vigorously when I call them a moron. Now these debates mostly happened in Boston, with the same crowd of people who dawn all green on St. Patty's day and act like their from Dublin. In actuality, their only 25% Irish and grew up in Malden. But does this movie really need to be franchised? The director is one of the most moronic twats out there, and to be honest his dialog is on a high school level. The only good thing to come from that piece of shit movie is the documentary on how much of a twat he actually is. So who's with me? Who's against me? ohnoone
first time i saw it i liked it, second time i saw it i realized it basically sucks. sequel will surely blow even harder.
Swindle
i'm with you earl, i only saw it about 3 months ago and i thought it sucked. people i knew who had seen it hyped it the fuck up especially my friend, but he thought the latest Diehard was a cinematic masterpiece so really it was my own damn fault for listening to him in the first place. and another thing, whats with movies sucking nowadays? yeah theres been a FEW good ones recently but theres a big ratio of shit movies to good movies. kind of like how 2pac had a big ratio of shit songs to good songs (obscure 12oz reference). the last time i went to the movies was a drunken decision to sneak into one to kill some time at the casino. i went into some chick flick about some bitch who idolized a cook then left because it reeked of estrogen so i went into some terrible vince vaughn movie. stuff just sucks these days. and people buy into it. props for someone who can recommend a decent movie to see at the cinema. yeah, cool fuckin story. im tired, im going to bed, and i agree with earl. LEVEL 75 PALADIN
Haha, I said this like two days ago in the movie thread. This is the most over rated pos movie ever. Fucking retarded.
El Mamerro
Hating on this movie has become kind of a cool and sensible thing to do, mainly cause there's so much douchebaggage attached to it on a variety of levels, but I can't join in on the hate. I thought it was a lot of fun.
earl broclo ESQ
Maybe it's just the fact that I was living in Boston when this movie dropped, and had to listen to way to many people say it was "wicked fockin' awesome," but this movie was just so overly hyped for a piece of shit. I'm not trying to be cool or sensible either. I'm so out of loop with what is cool or not in film. I just can't believe this movie has a sequel. Weapon X
i hate this movie, though Defoe somewhat makes it better. This is a movie for those House of Pain, "I'm Irish" fucks.
LEVEL 75 PALADIN
Same, I'm in Boston where this is the most wicked pissah movie of all time guy. No. It's not.
SwampFightOner
I like it, although not on the level I'm sure Irish Boston douchebags do I've heard nothing but bad things about the sequel though, even from real big fans of the first one
MALIK78
The director is one of the most moronic twats out there homie ur talkin hollywood here, more than half of the industry is ran by moronic twats...but hes def a douche i personally enjoyed the flick..wasnt bad especially since it was written & directed by some nobody asshole from Baston that had never directed before..def has a lot of hype but couldve been worse i guess...my two cents
El Mamerro
It just seems to me like the backlash is somewhat of a recent thing. When it first came out it was hard to find a lot of people who severely disliked it, the vast majority of people I heard talking about it did so in a positive way. Nowadays I've seen this increasing wave of negativity and distancing from it that seems to stem more from the reputation of the director and the fact that a lot of assholes seem to really like the movie, rather than the merits of the film itself. I haven't seen the movie in like 7 years, but I don't remember it being it as bad as a lot of people today make it out to be. Maybe if I watch it again I might come to my senses and realize it sucks. earl broclo ESQ
I hadn't really thought about this movie since it came out either, and I had the same experience. Everyone loved it and hyped it up to me. Then I saw it, and it was just some washed up corny wanna be Tarentino/Guy Ritchie shit. This thread was started because I saw a full page add for the sequel in the Voice last night, and all my original hatred was rehatched. thismachinekills
i watched it and liked it. it was just kind of a fun movie, i didn't really care that it was cheesy. i felt like it was supposed to be outlandish and kinda silly. it was like the movie "wanted-" nothing particularly GOOD about it, but still enjoyable

Maybe if I watch it again I might come to my senses and realize it sucks. This !!!! I really liked this movie when it came out ... it was fun to watch, Dafoe is awesome in it. Bob Marley is annoying as fuck. These days it seems dated, and Overnight helped push me to the dislike side based on how annoying Troy Duffy is. john_gacy
I actually liked this movie (the 1st), although I don't know how good it is to make a sequel so far after the 1st. I thought it was good, there's many movies w/ unrealistic/unbelievable shit that serves only as entertainment value. I can think of a lot worse. I would say it compares fairly well to any Ritchie/Quarantino type movie, maybe not quite equal, but close enough for me.
