Overtoun Bridge...where prehistoric whales go to die.

Some crazy shit I read today while eating my lunch, thought it was appropriate to the coming holiday, enjoy!

The Overtoun Bridge is an arch bridge located near Milton, Dumbarton, Scotland, over the Overtoun Burn. It has gained public attention because of the unusually large number of dogs that have leaped to their deaths over a number of decades. It is not known exactly when or why dogs began to leap from the bridge, but studies indicate that these deaths might have begun during the 1950s or 1960s, at the rate of about one dog a month.

The long leap from the bridge onto the waterfalls of the Overtoun Estate almost always results in immediate death. Inexplicably, some dogs have actually survived, recuperated, and then returned to the site to jump again. The dogs have mostly jumped from one side of the bridge.

The phenomenon has received international attention, and the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has sent representatives to investigate. No abnormality or explanation has yet been found.

Place posters of dog wisperer guy above bridge, problem solved.

Dump piles of cat flavored meat on top of bridge, problem solved.

Chain slutty French poodle bi-bitch to top of bridge, problem solved.

Scotland must be retards when it comes to dogs.

Sending scientists seems like a weak solution.

If this was happening in SF there would be plans to erect a giant fence all the way along both sides of the bridge...and a guy filming the dogs jumping to their deaths and interviewing their families.

completely different from high pitch noise frequencies which tend to affect animals ,humans are affected by extreme low frequency levels.

it is actually theoretically possible to induce mass psychosis with sound and vibration..

kinda disappointed now......i had high hopes for this thread

And prehistoric whales come in to this how?

Some of these people never knew that whales evolved from fish, into dog (like) animals that hunted fish, then back to the ocean as whales and dolphins.

So they're having a field day with it.

Feel free to join in.

(There's also alot of idiots on here who seem to think that dogs and wolves are two entirely different animals)

Well clearly these dogs just wanted to be reunited their acquatic relatives.
