Chubbs
I had a Cuban immigrant as a father who was pretty set in his 'old-school' ways. I wasn't aloud to stay the night at peoples houses, have a bicycle, or have a lock on my door (two entire years I went without a door knob all together). Only until I approached the age of 18 did he start to reconsider his practices. What were you childhood boundaries? What boundaries would you/do you set for your kids? Chubbs
Also my dad always assumed I was doing hard drugs when I stayed up later than normal. If that's not paranoia, idk what is
Banana fishd
Also my dad always assumed I was doing hard drugs when I stayed up later than normal. If that's not paranoia, idk what is My mom use to think the same thing but also if I slept in. It's because she works at a rehab place with drug addicts and thats usually what they do... stay up late doing tweaker things or sleep in late trying to overcome the repercussions from the night prior. So she'd go through the whole house banging pots and pans yelling about stuff.
Guest 50million
my mom beat the shit out of me for no reason sometimes. when she got mad at me she would just yell at me. it was kinda weird. my dad used to beat the shit out of my mom when she was holding me (when i was like 2). i totally remember that shit. in turn, she'd beat the crap out of me. when i was 12 i started fighting back...pretty much left home most of the time when i was 14 to get away from it all. moved out at 16. but when i'd fight back, i'd always win. cops were called. but now we have forgiven each other and we are best friends. she still says kids need a 'good whooping'
Decyferon
I had it easy growing up, from about the age of 11 or 12 I was out with my friends most nights, my parents knew I was smoking weed and drinking on the weekends. Only time they would get pissed off is if I never came home. What can I say I had a good upbringing, if anything they were too lenient because I ended up going off the rails by about 15 and got into hard drugs/stealing etc . With my son, I will encourage him to be open and tell me stuff, I could always talk about anythign with my parents and would encourage him to do the same thing, why be a cunt to your child they will just end up resenting you and doing exactly what you don't want. My dad tried to physically restrain me once so I fucking hit him, no way I would let anyone lay a finger on me and I wouldn't hit my son either
MomentIsNow
Kids do need a good whooping. My friend's daughter is 3 months pregnant and the bitch is 14. I say it wouldn't have happened if my friend would just beat her ass. Anyways, I had a lock on my door but it was one of those locks that you could just turn it with a quarter and it would open so technically, it wasn't really a lock. I wasn't allowed to sleep over at anyones house. I was allowed to have friends over without asking first though.
iloveboxcars
my parents pretty much let me do whatever i wanted after the age of 14. i was always coming in the door when they were leaving for work "how was your night" "good" "going to school?" "probably" they completely flipped the script at 14 though. before 14 i wasn't allowed to watch r rated movies. i had to call to check in every hour. probably other things i dont remember. Decyferon
If you have to resort to hitting your kids just shows you don't have any control and all your teaching them is that violence is the only way to resolve something, you don't learn shit from it. I have had a go at people in shops before for hitting their kids for no fucking reason, just because they can't control their kids (not that the kid was even doing anything wrong just trying to talk to their mom) it isn't their kids fault it is their fault for being a shit parent. There are anti smacking laws in the UK tho, it is very frowned upon
shai
Then again, if you whale on your kids too much they'll turn into gay porn stars or Britney Spears...and what parent wants to deal with the shame of that? I caught more than my fair share of hell growing up. Sometimes I deserved it, other times I didn't...I wasn't really a bad kid compared to some of my peers. DRUNKEN-ASSHOLE-ONER
If you have to resort to hitting your kids just shows you don't have any control and all your teaching them is that violence is the only way to resolve something, you don't learn shit from it. That's bullshit. If you don't smack your kid up every now and then when they act up, the only lesson you're teaching them is that it's cool to act like little shitheads and do whatever they want. Sometimes violence is the answer, especially when your kid's testing you to see how pussy you are and what you're going to let them get away with. I'm not saying it's cool to beat the shit out of your kid just cause he's getting bad grades or whatever, but people who don't smack their kids now and then are the reason why little kids run around in Target knocking shit over, throwing shit at their moms and screaming at the top of their lungs. wiggerworks
no, DAO, see, what he's saying is, if you raise them properly from the get-go (by properly i mean in a way that doesn't involve acting like trash & beating em), they probably WON'T "act like little shit heads" or try to "do whatever they want." in other words, if the kids' behavior even gets to the point where you feel the "need" to hit them, you've fucked up somewhere along the line. it's pretty simple, really, unless you're a lazy turd or cognitivelly impaired. kinda makes me sad you're a parent. My kid doesn't run around screaming at the top of his lungs cos if he did I would just take all his toys and whatever he wanted away from him, it is just the way it works for me and my wife. All I have to do is raise my voice at my son and that is enough, once I am louder than talking voice he knows not to fuck with me and behaves. Whenever my mum tried to give me a smack as a kid I would just turn and be like fucking try it and see what I do, I raise my son that if anyone hits him then he hits them straight back and if I hit him I would expect him to hit me back so me hitting him isn't gonna prove anything to him
yonis
up until 12 i never really did anything. befoer that my mom would scream at me my dad never did (at least not after they got divorced). i had an 11pm curfew from 12 to 15 and then once i was 15 i moved back with mom and started school in the city. she let me do what ever i want and ever since then i've been doing me. idk how far it got me thuogh considering i'm not in college or really doing anything
