Darkstar.

Funny never thought I would find this thread in here. We used to go to the parking lot and get sheets, then hop the fences to get into the shows at and wander down shakedown street. Shoreline lurker. Got to see them at Frost Ampitheater.

Pig Pen- Sitting on top of the World.

Never thought I would find this thread here.

I used to sing this song to my kid to put him down when he was a toddler.

Shit, I forgot all about this thread.

I've been busy doing other things, plus it seems like 12 oz is in one of its periodic slumps. So, I've decided that being here less- maybe till the new board goes up or I get bored with having a life- is healthier than being a drag.

In the meantime, here's a couple good shows-

Grateful Dead Live at Frost Ampitheater on 1989-05-07

Grateful Dead Live at Fillmore West on 1970-02-05

Grateful Dead Live at Paramount Theater on 1972-07-26 (This is one of the tightest performances I've ever heard by the Dead...on the other hand, when I first heard it it put the whole "they're stoned and out of tune" notion into perspective.)

And anyone else- feel free to check out the Archive, listen to shows and post the ones you liked here, or videos or whatever. After all, I know what I like and I know it's pretty narrow in focus...I'd like to hear what other people enjoy.

Is there a way I can be prompted to post something in this thread every two weeks or so?

These guys are great and would have hopped on the bus be I old enough, they were the original jam band. The Dead just wanted to resurrect lost folk heroes, In fact some of song were never recorded by some of the original artist just sheet music/improvised by the dead. I find it hard to listen without packing up and hopping on the road.

i only got to see them once. it was at the shoreline amphitheater in 1994, not sure if it was july or september, i'll have to ask my dad. i was 14 years old and it was pretty amazing.

i have 9 hits of blotter in a square with a steal your face design. i'm sure it evaporated years ago, but i only picked it up for the print anyway. if i can find it, i'll scan or take a picture and post it here.

i haven't listened to many bootlegs, but i'm dl'ing quite a few from here to check out. mostly the dead just beings back good memories of hanging out with my dad. he always listened to them or the stones on sunday mornings while we made breakfast and cleaned up the house. he has xm radio and when we kicked it a couple months ago we drove around listening to this talk show on the dead channel where these guys with an encyclopedic knowledge of shows answered people's questions. it was pretty rad.

Jerry Garcia played a Travis Bean, a dream of a guitar. Other than that... meh.
