Santana nailed it, Ballard, although close to Seattle is oddly shut off from the rest of the city. Especially without a car despite having good bus service it might as well be another city and if you are going to be that far out might as well go some place cheaper.

Si, Central District, close enough to capitol Hill without living in close quarters to the yuppies and frat boys that are now moving in with all the condos and douchy pan-Asian bistros opening on Pike and Pine.

Over looking Chinatown, east of 23rd and then North to about Union, fair game.

South Park is just as far, but it is mad cheap, if you bike I imagine 20 minute ride for a grown man to make it to Downtown Seattle. But it's industrial, by the tracks and a lot more fun.

Ballard? La Isla, the only reason i would venture there. Their Happy Hour is AMAZING.

West Seattle is like that too. Although I am liking the West side more and more these days.

ballard is pretty weak. it was better 5-6 years ago before the condos rose. i liked being surrounded by old Norwegians, now im surrounded by boys in tight pants and girls with bad attitudes. if you do get that room here, just be sure to get out of ballard often.

If it snows I'm gonna snowboard down Boren. And Yesler, too. I love the West side. So many cuts you can hit to paint. I basically lived at Gatewood Elementary last summer /nochimo. You can't forget about Blunt Park either! Always a good time. And Alki's "private" beaches. Just the port's nasty water that you can swim in if your feet are tough enough to walk on glass and rocks.

They say its not going to snow this year, or it wont be as bad as it was last winter. El Nino's coming back.

Ballard always seems to be the butt of the jokes here, I remember Almost Live would always make fun of Ballard. I remember going to the skate park in downtown ballard off market, I don't know if its there anymore.

beacon hill is lame

Depends on what you like.

Beacon Hill is still mostly residential, its quiet, its a good place to live.

No yuppies down here, not a single starbucks, and I swear we have the only shell station that sells heat lamp chicken and corn dogs.

SOUFFEND!

What's good with Rainer, Renton, White Center, Beacon Hill. when I was a kid my mom took me to Borrichini's all the time. I don't know if I'm spelling it right, but that is the best bakery. South Seattle has cleaned up alot in the past few years. Seems like Kent is turning into the valley haha.

thanks for all the info on ballard, im not even sure if the room is still available and it did seem a little distant to the areas im interested in.

I currently live in southwest washington so the rain is nothing. I also hope it snows again this year like last.

Im going up there in about 2 weeks to look for a job and a room, ill be staying downtown and will probably frequent the whiskey bar, if anybody wants to meet up, holla. I only really know 1 person up there so meeting some people wouldnt be a bad idea.

Oh well. I don't live there anymore, that's where I lived when I was growing up. I miss it out there though. The smell of the bread factory, boosting from Red Apple, gunshots haha. I miss the CD. Kent is just full of juggalo's and I hate it living here.

And FUCK the rain. Can't skate or paint. So my new definition of fun is smoking weed and sitting at home.

ah hahahaha yeah kent is a shit hole. fuckin place.

The Whisky Bar?

I might know a thing or two about that spot.

Borrachini's?

The pink box is the perfect way to let someone know you care.

Admiral is good, cheap movie theatre and tall cans for the win. Zats bagels. I swam at Lincoln Park this summer, it was hella cold, but it felt good. Nothing like ocean water.

Osaka Teriyaki AKA Dirty Teriyaki, I have been eating there since their 3.49 Special and the Art Bar used to be across the street. Did you ever go into the arcade inside of Fantasy Unlimted? True story, porn and video games. I used to wonder about the movies for .25 cents. What do you know about kicking it at The Turf? I love that diner. It is American Diner meets Philipino Grandma Home with a bar that plays Earth Wind and Fire and James Brown.

Genesse, when the #39 went to Southcenter? One of the most epic, ghetto bus rides ever.

Beacon Hill's Shell has THE BEST CATFISH. Catfish corner in the CD does not count since they are home to sweet tea and that is a fast way to happiness. Beacon Hill? If it snows I am going down the epic hill of DAWSON. SOUTHEND!

Yesler used to be a skid row. They would slide large logs down Yesler into the bay. The old apartments I lived in housed prostitutes back in the day that were later murdered. Yikes.

Living downtown is expensive. The Whisky was just remodeled so it's grime factor is definitely coming down. Looks good in there though. Eat at Osaka Teriyaki on Pike which will be 3 blocks South on 2nd. Harass the lovely ladies at Top Pot Doughnuts on 5th for coffee. Or the scummy crust punk doughnut stand in the market. Those doughnuts are HEAVEN. Buffalo Deli is good as well, I believe it's on 1st and Blanchard? Wasabi Bistro has a good happy hour.

Dawson is an epic hill! When I was 7 I rode my bike down that hill, tailgated by a truck I tried to pull to the sidewalk, curbed it and ended up in the hospital with a major concussion. I lost consciousness for several minutes... SKETCHY!

I remember when the teriyaki at Osaka (I always called it Ghetto Teriyaki) was $2.99 + tax (then, 8%!) and it would be $3.24. Please do not eat at Turf.. Santana, you must have a steel trap for a stomach, a diet built around the food you mentioned sounds like a recipe for disaster.

You guys are all trippin'. 7 is still the most ghetto bus around. One of the drivers sold crack to his passengers for over 2 years! Some of the routes that run into Burien are pretty sketch too.

I lived up north for a bit and got off work after all the express runs were done and had to take the 6 from downtown all the way to shoreline. I became convinced that if there is a hell there is a part of it that is the 6 route going in a never ending circle.

O'Sucka is also known as scary teriyaki, they used to sell me cigarettes when I was a kid.

Scary Teriyaki for sure! That man is super funny.

Bryso love, here is article;

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008733920_webrock11m.html

The 7 is not that bad anymore since they split it with the 49. When it would cross over Henderson and Rainier? Man, Rainier Beach used to be nuts. Remember when the #7 was hijacked by that kid? Haha, my sister went to school with him. The 48 too.

The 358 Bus.

Remember when the driver was shot and it drove off the Aurora Bridge?

Read about it;

http://www.historylink.org/index.cfm?DisplayPage=output.cfm&file_id=734

(they say 359, but that bus does not exist unless it's a Express for the 358?)

Anyhoo, chances are, we"ll run into each other, I have a feeling we know the same crowd or awesome people at that bar.

I have good memories of the Turf, but when they used to be in the old Johnny Rockets location. I would go with my grandpa and the waitress would make me milkshakes. Definitely tops in my book.
