SMdoubleXL Posted November 10, 2010 Share Posted November 10, 2010 also..scan those documents. also insurance policies, ID cards. passports, SS cards, birth certificates, and type of document like a will, advanced directive, power of attorney..etc.. also, if you have a home & belongings, walk through your home with a camera, recording (not taking pictures) of walls, drawers, jewelry, clothes, electronics. this will help in case of flood/fire/burglary. one would think this is common knowledge, but not too many poeple do this. they think they will remember everything they own, but when it comes down to it, the stress of the sitiuation will overcome memory. save the disk/card/memory stick with cash in a fire proof safe/safety deposit box. also send a copy of said disk to your mom (or someone you can definitely trust) just in case.
