I'm just stating, acting like a crash was a server upgrade is kinda dumb. Though we finally have the site running on super bad ass hardware, the database holding the forum data is all fucked up. There are huge holes in the database and when some actions are triggered, several DB tables are referenced. Sometimes it syncs between tables incorrectly and you get shit like 'edited by whoever' because the post ID is referencing a table with the wrong edit ID which in turn is referencing the wrong member ID. Other times it finds a hole or corrupted data and you'll get some unpredictable result. If that result is significant enough, the DB locks up and since you have 1000 kids in the middle of reading or writing to the DB themselves, you wind up corrupting more data. Between the massive DB size, the gaps, the corrupted data and the complexity of it all, it takes a lot of time effort and skill to fix. Therefore thank Wanga for saving the day once again. Just so you know, an entirely new board has been in the process of being developed. To step our game up, we're introducing a ton of new features, as well as integrating user sessions/members/etc with the 12oz blogs, as well as building out a new section that is sort of a flickr clone. When you upload photos, it automatically adds the submission to the gallery, so you can viewc content in the context of forum discussion, or you can strip the gossip/beef/discussion out by viewing the images through the gallery interface. Additionally you'll be able to bookmark (favorite) everything (images, threads, even members), as well as prop or diss (digg or bury) everything. Anyhow, it's a massive effort that's costing a ton of time and money. The less money we have to work with, the longer the time it takes to build it. We will be manually migrating all the old data over to the new board which is going to be a monster of a task. We will also archive this current forum, but it'll be closed down to 'read only' status. All accounts will be transferred, but ALL PASSWORDS WILL BE RESET. When the time comes, resent instructions will be emailed to whatever email address you have set in your User CP, so if that email address is wrong, you WILL BE LOCKED OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT. We'll go through the hassle of helping reset VIP accounts for kids that don't update your emails (though you should still update it to avoid having to wait), but everyone else will be stuck locked out, which means you lurk or register a new one. I suggest you double check and update it now. These efforts to fix and further evolve 12oz is why we ask you guys to support the advertisers that are supporting 12oz by choosing us over some other site to advertise with.
