Smart
yeah, we don't normally stock pomegranate juice but the rest of that sounds yummy... sometimes we skip the mint and add lime juice instead... we call that a 'Cuba Libre'.

christo-f
I'm quite the Martini fan myself..., thr fruity kind. I'm not 007 enough for the straight Gin or vodka numbers. Lychee martini: 2 shots vodka 1 shot lychee liqueur dash of vermouth lychee juice over ice in a shaker,. shake away and that will make you about 2 and a bit full martini glasses. SOmetimes I like to make it a bit more bitey with less lychee liquer and more vodka. Sour apple martini: same as above but just replace the lychee for sour apple liqueur and clear apple juice. Up the apple liqueur a bit for more of the sour bite. Or you can just go to a beautiful tropical island off the coast of Brazil and get the freshest pineapple capiroska ever... DonCheadle
I've been bartending in Brooklyn for a couple of years, I work at a shameless dive bar and I also work at 2 different restaurants, one of which is upscale and one of which is more of a fun Chinese restaurant with a secret club downstairs. Here are some photos of the life: ...a black and tan for all the Guinness appreciators.
DonCheadle
Southside Cooler: Fresh mint leaves (6-8) 1 barspoon of sugar 4-5 slices of cucumber 1/2 oz lime juice *muddle ingredients* pour 8 oz. HENDRICKS gin (a "bitier" gin will not work, plus Hendrick's is distilled with cucumbers) add several ice cubes, stir. fill with ice, top with club soda. garnish with cucumber or large mint leaf. Caparinha and capiroskas in Brazil Baijiu in China Aquavit in Sweden Beer in Brussels Mekong in Thailand Actually, that's about it. I thought the list would be longer than that.... I'm going to Texas soon, might drop across the border and hit up some tequila whilst I'm there.
DonCheadle
Christo, The Chinese restaurant I work at has a Leblon Caipirinha, and a Lychee Martini. We used to use Pitu for cachasa, but we got a deal on Leblon now. I've still never actually tasted one beyond the straw-sip. For the Lychee: 2 oz. vodka Lychee syrup dash of cointreau garnish with 2 fresh lychees
earl broclo ESQ
Don Cheadle --the bar I play records isn't having me play anymore. They figure with the movies and all, they don't need DJ's. If you know any bars with turntables that want someone to play funk and soul --let me know. I need me some under the table money. That's really interesting think I'll be giving that a shot over X,as when I'm back home! Does the Chinese restaurant have baijiu (pronounced buy-jee-oh)? Looks like 白酒 in Chinese characters and is clear like vodka. I really don't like cachasa so I kind of stuck to the capiroskas. Abakaxi capiroska on the beach of Moro Del Sao Paulo. Or even better, the beach of Morere with some lobster and crab. Fucking paradise, man.

DonCheadle
that sounds like it was meant to be (christo's post) those energy drink cocktails scare me. The other night at the bar, these Polish dudes wanted red bull. I remembered that we had some warm cans of Monster in the back room. I threw some malibu and house rum together with pineapple and topped with monster, it was like a girly drink that could blast your heart out of your chest. shamelzzzzzz! Manute Bol
Rum and coke is my drink, but if I want to get tropical I usually make my own drinks. I never measure anything out, I usually just make it really strong and delicious. One of my favorites.. A lot of rum. ice. pinacolada mix. a little pineapple juice. blend that shit. splash some v8 kiwi strawberry drink in there (enough to turn it redish) blend until you feel its good. I usually end up mixing up different amounts until it tastes right.

Spicoli
the thing with arnold palmers is you gotta get em just right, measurements have gotta be precise and the ice has to be a certain temperature... if your just a little bit off the drink is ruined. grim540
I believe it was called something else when I went out west but one of the favorites at the bar I used to work at and soon became a staple at all the local bars was this. Star Wars: SoCo Amaretto Triple-Sec Sour Mix a bit to sweet sometimes, but damn if we did not get shit faced of a a few of those every night.
