Posted August 6, 2009 Share Posted August 6, 2009 while working at insurance companies, i'd get at least 10-20 calls a day about asking for junkies to get free methadone treatment. it's retardedly expensive (especially since most require maintenance which is a total ongoing charge) and most think they're entitled to it. if there's any sort of institutionalized national healthcare, that shit better be off of it because i'm not going to pay for some fuckup junkie's choice to boot up every day until he can't live without it. autoteller Posted August 6, 2009 Share Posted August 6, 2009 i don't want ANY TAX DOLLARS going to it. i want deferred premiums based upon family size and income. it works just as good as tax dollars because then, if you simply don't use the coverage, it's all money in the pocket of the US people, simply put. if your premium is 50 bucks a month, you're not going to use 50 dollars worth of resources just sitting at home if you're not sick or injured. the FPL (federal poverty limit chart. shows average household income and also family sizes) charts work to an extent, but it needs to be coordinated with social workers for special situations. it's too structured to help EVERYONE, it's a terrible situation. you'll have a single guy that makes 25k a year that can't afford premiums because he's gotta pay off his own rent, and his sick mother's rent, and there is no way he can get a break, which is the one fault i have with this program. it would be a serious undertaking,but would you expect nationwide institutionalized healthcare to be anything else? and to me, healthcare includes psych visits and shit too. dental only for health-effecting issues as well. i've had to deal with a lot, but fuck junkies. i'm not going to pay for someone to clean themselves up when i had no hand in getting them sick in the first place. methadone is way too expensive, and the demand is WAY too high. if you want that, pay extra. simple as that. i'm sure as fuck not going to do it.
