There are already (fake) articles saying the CEO of AT&T was found dead outside his home.

One of them had 700 diggs this morning and got shit down.

I'd like to see if there is enough of a shitstorm to effect AT&T stock.

I'm looking at it like this, if ISP's start blocking websites 12oz would be at the front of the line.

I'm not a fan of 4chan myself but the number of people in there is huge.

If this is an actual censorship issue and not a DDos attack issue best to start retaliations now.

Make sure ISP get the hint that the web can and will fight back.

It's kind of like how I don't like hate speech but fully support free speech.

Once the line of what's not allowed to say gets blurred anything could be made illegal.

This is pretty important since the Internet is relatively new and still free.

The outcome of small shit that "don't effect me" like this can come back to bite you in the ass.

I hope /b/ gets blocked for goods and casek cries like a /b/otch.

I hope you know that the commotion over this isn't just because its over this little website. its a matter of internet censorship, thats quite the big deal.

its high level govt agents. goes super deep.

/no raid

EDIT* casek covered it already

poor innocent anon

I wasn't really joking or being paranoid. Servers in Herndon Virginia.

Lots of intelligence agencies work in/around Herndon.

Saw many examples of agents foreign and domestic during the Iran

elections on whyweprotest. On "CP wednesdays" or whichever day they

have it, they come out in droves. My belief is that some are working

(cases) and some are spreading what is referred to as "cancer".

I feel like a bird, but i'll only fly away

I worry about only flying away

I cry becaue i don't know where my home is

I am flying pigdemon

I understand Desu is not for the weak hearted

I say Nukka!

I dream about Nelly Furtado dying in a bus wreck

I try to wake up

I hope for lulz

I don't go there. I saw a picture of a baby and an erection once and was so disgusted that I

really never went back (until last night, so I could see the AT&T debacle).

I still hope the fucker that posted that shit wrecks his car, it catches on fire, and slowly burns him to death. Hour or two minimum.

Here's what happened:

For the past three weeks, 4chan has been under a constant DDoS attack. We were able to filter this specific type of attack in a fashion that was more or less transparent to the end user.

Unfortunately, as an unintended consequence of the method used, some Internet users received errant traffic from one of our network switches. A handful happened to be AT&T customers.

In response, AT&T filtered all traffic to and from our img.4chan.org IPs (which serve /b/ & /r9k/) for their entire network, instead of only the affected customers. AT&T did not contact us prior to implementing the block. Here is their statement regarding the matter.

In the end, this wasn't a sinister act of censorship, but rather a bit of a mistake and a poorly executed, disproportionate response on AT&T's part. Whoever pulled the trigger on blackholing the site probably didn't anticipate [nor intend] the consequences of doing so.

We're glad to see this short-lived debacle has prompted renewed interest and debate over net neutrality and internet censorship—two very important issues that don't get nearly enough attention—so perhaps this was all just a blessing in disguise.

Aside from that, I'll also add that there is some big news due later this week. Keep an eye on the News page, Twitter, and global message for updates.

As always, I can be reached at moot@4chan.org.

PS: If any companies would like to hook us up with some better hardware, feel free! The architecture we've got powering this large and influential beast is really quite embarrassing. ( ._.)
