RHDS
i would just spend some extra money and get the canon g10. it's supposed to be one of the best digital point and shoots on the market. http://www.adorama.com/ICAG10.html this website has a 50 dollars off rebate available for canon cameras too. MrThree
The G10 looks super attractive to me after some recommendations from another thread...... How rookie friendly are the manual adjustments? I think the exposure compensation little knob might just seem foreign.
Mercer
Casio EX-FH20 is on sale at best buy now for around $425 I saw samples of shots and video on someone's blog that made me want one. Since you're not worried about interchangeable lenses it opens it up for more than just Canon or Nikon Not the best image quality compared to real SLR's but beats most point and shoots images hands down. This is why I'd recommend it: shoot 40 full sized 10mp frames per second (regular motion pictures usually max out at 33fps) Also has an HD Video mode that takes super slow motion video in HD 20x optical zoom and all the other shit really high end point and shoots have. Guest JohnLester#31
Yo watson...... GET THAT CAM!!! Thats the exact camera I purchased at BestBuy for $370; extremely durable. I have a few photos floating around between the B/W Photography and The Photography thread. Does a fair job of capturing what you want even before editing. Have you looked into the features? Dee..
watson, if your looking to pay around 400$ just bump it up a lil and buy an entry level dslr for like
purplegrape
I'll reuse this thread/same question. Finally have the funds for a nice camera (opt to pay $500-700). Been doing some research - Rebel t1i seems pretty ideal but I really could do without the video component. Someone recommended I buy a cheaper camera but a better lens. Any suggestions? RES4
im no expert on cameras but as far as i know you should just get a cheaper camera with just the features you want and spend the extra money on lenses. there isnt that much differnce between actual cameras

I would look into getting a 40d then if you dont mind not having video. Photo-wise it is superior to the new 60d that was just released minus the ability to shoot at ridiculously high iso. It has a metal body and shoots almost 7fps sequences.
Lemonjello Jones
Don't get that SX10 IS, they have horrible battery life and mine broke in about 8 months.
