I have no way to substantiate this, it's just an opinion. NK is totally backwards, in a zillion different ways. its very possible there are people in streets with flies buzzing, but you sure as fuck wont see that in Pyongyang. Its a special city that requires a permit or pass to even enter, let alone live in. Its their shrine to the Kims, socialism, and the great workers of the workers party. They are not letting fly people live here, sure mayeb in other towns, villages, cities, but you are not going to those. if you do get in, youre with a handler 24/7 and you go where they want you to visit. hence why most travel blogs/stores are of the exact same vacation. NK also enforces "collective punishment". which, if you dont know, means if you commit a crime, or dissent your entire family goes with you to a reeducation camp. which, you sure as fuck do not want to go to. so, uprisings are kept to a minimum. it also serves them to remove those who have dissent/criminal traits. the less the better, one less mouth to feed. if you get in trouble in prison in NK your whole wing suffers. Collective responsibility, it seems to work quite well. So those that do get to work/study/live in pyongyang shut up enjoy the benefits and deal with whatthey have. those who love in poverty. well, they have no choice and can either escape (your family also gets punished for you escaping) or deal with it. the country also has a military first policy, this enables the military to get first dibs on train tickets, food rations, everything, anything they do not use, the rest of society gets. they enjoy this perk, and certainly dont want to give it up. so, some complaining peasants vs our million man army? not going to last long. the us is not invading NK, there is no reason to. that and they certainly wont win, the us hasnt won a war in 50 years, even in korea part 1. viet nam, iraq and this afghan war. certainly not against a country with no natural resources aside from kimchi, rice fields, and some memoribilia from various tinpot republics sent to kim and held in his museum. china wont stand for it (the us owes them what a trillion?), russia doesent subsidize nk anymore and they are more of a burden than anything, communist russia is gone, so they have no use for kim and some shithouse country with nothing geographically or naturally to benefit from. the us has bases in japan, and sk, so they sure as fuck do not need one in pyongyang. prewar? na. just some shitty headlines for a bit.
