Smart Posted May 24, 2009 Share Posted May 24, 2009 ReBirth is kind of old school but for beat creation and bass lines I always liked it better than any of the Fruity Loops and Hammerhead versions I used, but both of those have been updated since... still, I like ReBirth. I actually owned an 808 but I traded it in on an Alesis HR-16 when that came out... anyway, the 303/808/909 interface is pretty simple and straight forward. Something to consider. Obviously they're lacking some of the options/abilities of higher end stuff, but if you're not looking to drop much money, they've gotten good review and everyone i know who has used them has said they were really good for what they were/the price. i got the drum pad one kicked down to me a couple months ago. it works well with fruity loops, after a couple hours of tryting to figure out the settings with youtube videos and shit. it's usually easier for me to just write the drums in step edit though. fun for sample triggering. i'm gonna try out the one with all the pots. should be good for tweaking synth lfo's and stuff. definitely good stuff for fifty bucks. http://www.gersic.com/plugins/index.php?daCat=-3 this site has a ton of free synths, efx and drums in vst. works with most audio programs.
