David Bowie appreciation

I've always thought dude was just one super cool guy.

He seems like he would have a sense of humor that would go right over my head.

Borderline genius status.

I wish he were my best friend.

If you don't like David Bowie, I probably don't like you.

He never gave a damn about what people thought or said about him, he just did his thing and did it amazingly well.

Plus, he has magic eyes.

This is from one of my favorite albums of all time.

The Langley School Music Project- Innocence and Despair

It's a bunch of school kids from Canada in the 70's that covered various songs.

They played all their own instruments.

It was recorded in the school's gym which gives it a very eerie quality.

I know this isn't directly about David Bowie, but I made the thread and so I will post whatever I g.d'ing please.

Here's a documentary about The Langley School Music Project

Woah, Ian has about a million songs that I have never heard but that he knows most of the words for.

Stuff like that makes me sad inside.

On the one hand, I think special people are awesome and should do anything that they want to do that makes them happy.

It just puts them in a position to be ridiculed by the assholes that make up the internet and the real world.

But hey, if he's happy...that's all that matters.

There's all sorts of comments telling him what an awesome singer he is.

I guess it's better than people making fun of him.

Hopefully these people don't pump him up so much that he does something like try out for Idol or whatever and then get his dreams crushed.

My 5 year old son is obsessed with his jean jacket I bought him . I put some skate pins and a few patches on it . He picked out a David Bowie Diamond Dogs pin , which he feels he needs to inform everyone about . And his new thing is to tell anyone that listens that he is not only a " Rock star " , but that he is " Awesome " .

As for me , I absolutely love David Bowie .

It's just insane to think that he's been putting out albums for 40 years but still can manage to make music that is fresh and new.

And to think that his albums that are 20/30/40 years old still are amazing to this day and unlike anything else out there.

For some reason I would think he would be a really awesome dad to have.

His son just came out with a sci-fi movie that I really want to see.

I remember hearing to Modern Love, China Girl, and Let's Dance on the radio when I was a little kid.

Not that I listen to the radio anymore, but I would be hard pressed to think of any song that I could catch on the radio today that would be able to hold a candle to any of those songs.

I never heard the old soulja boy track.

Most hiphop songs that involve doing a ridiculous dance don't appeal to me.

I'm old, I don't follow teenage dance crazes.

I stick to what I know when it comes to dancing...a simple tiger strut or a little psychotic shaking.
