you gonna shred afghanistan with a bike?

dude, if this place ever calms down and gets more of its mined area cleared this country would offer some of the greatest riding and climbing you can imagine. the goat trails that exist here are fucking incredible. here in the south (assuming you didn't get blown up by an ied or a russian mine) you could ride single track for hundreds of miles without seeing any traffic besides tractors or camels.

but no, i'm reading to piece together my bike when i come home.

Reading Keep the Aspidistra Flying. George Orwell.

So far its the story of a middle young adult and his personal

war against money or some shit like that. What is most unhelpful

tho is I dont understand British Currency. i dont know the difference

between a bob and a a pence and a 3 pence and a 6 pence.

I know a pound is a larger amount but also the book takes place

in what im guessing is the 50s so even if i look this shit up

somehow its still going to be incorrect because of inflation

Ok edit

2 farthings = 1 halfpenny

2 halfpence = 1 penny (1d)

3 pence = 1 thruppence (3d)

6 pence = 1 sixpence (a 'tanner') (6d)

12 pence = 1 shilling (a bob) (1s)

2 shillings = 1 florin ( a 'two bob bit') (2s)

2 shillings and 6 pence = 1 half crown (2s 6d)

5 shillings = 1 Crown (5s)

thats less than a quarter of the shit

Bless Me Ultima" is rad... Check out Kingsolver's "The Bean Trees" and Nichols "The Milagro Beanfield War" if you're into it.

Found this: Shel Silverstein tribute album and didn't know where to put it... I have a feeling he played into all our childhood psyches at least a little.

I'm reading stacks of contemporary poetry (err, /nh?) right now... it's nice.
