what is up with this bovine/deer motif? It seems like a lot of contemporary artists are doing very similar looking nihilistic, morbid paintings and drawings of deer and slaughtered livestock. I am seeing this imagery repeated all over the place. I guess this is either ( A ) a fresh, timely expression of some sort of morbid subconscious feeling pervading our culture, or it's ( B ) a tired convention that's been exploited to the point of cliche and continues to get beaten to death (pun intended) by art students everywhere. I'm going with B.

Everyone probably knows this, but back in the early 2000s, (among the street art fad) everybody and their mom was doing deer head stencils.

It went on to influence online graphics and "Computer Arts" type magazines that taught step by step how to generate those stupid fucking deer heads and drippy clouds in vector graphics

I'm not sure how it's related to the pig blood deer head though.

My initial critique towards that piece was the preservation thing. I'm not sure how long that blood will stay visible, will it decay or fade away.

But then I thought all that can be regarded as part of the concept or something
